Karen,

I am so sorry!  You really need to contact your doctor though.  You do not want to have another stroke, it could be much worse.  Please take care of yourself and know that we are thinking of you are sending prayers your way.

Dear Karen,

I am just so sorry to hear this. I felt terrible when I read what you wrote. Please check with a doctor as Meggie suggested. Perhaps it was a TIA but the damage you have worries me.

You have been under just too much stress and after this week need to really get things back into perspective. You give so much and I know that is just who you are but be careful.

Many hugs, Patsie

Karen, please see a doctor.  damage like this can get worse over time without treatment.  this is really urgent.  please do not delay.  If it wasn't a stroke, then you will find out what the problem is.

OMG --- Karen!!!!

Get to the doctor or hospital right away!!!!  A stroke is nothing to play with, and if its not a stroke and another neurological problem, you need to take care of it immediately!!!  Your capacity to talk isn't something that just goes away one day.  I totally agree with Meggie and Sue, please, please, please.. take care of yourself.  My grandmother had TIAs and Parkensons Dis.   But she never lost the ability to speak for more than a few minutes to a half hour.. a whole week  doesn't sound good at all.  My sister was a neuro-tech and she would take you over her knee if she knew you aren't taking this seriously. nono   I'm only being this tough on you because I care about you.

Please let us know how you're doing..

Warm hugs,

Patti

Karen,

It looks as though you are out numbered, I too insist that you see a doctor and have this checked out. This is nothing to fool around with. You could have permanent damage. This has all been too much stress for you and you need to take care of yourself right now.

Karen, Sweetie, go to the Doctor, please.  We want you take care of yourself.  As others have said this is serious.  There are medications that if it was a stroke, works better the sooner you can take it.  Even now they will help some.  Go now!!!!  I was shocked by your post & I just want you to please go.  There is a good chance the stress brought it on & they say a second stroke is even more dangerous.  If it wasn't a stroke it is still something that needs immediate attention.  Many soft & gentle hugs, Denise

Thank you for saying that Marlee... I was thinking the same thing!!!
I'm hoping the reason we haven't heard anything from Karen, is because she's taken our advice and gotten IMMEDIATE medical attention.

Thank you Marlee for saying that.  I wanted to say that too, I had thought about it all night & finally decided I would say it.

Someone needs to help you Karen.  It looks like it has to be you.  Please go.  If you don't I will send an amulance for you & you will have to go.  With the internet, pretty much anyone can be found who is not in hiding in the back country.

Please go, now.  If you have no one to take you, call a cab & I will reimburse you for it.  OK?

Hugs, Denise

Karen,

We are hoping that the reason that you are not responding is because you are at the doctor. Please let us know what is going on.

Karen, please please please go. I'm in the same hopes as the others that the reason that you're not posting right now is because you're away seeing someone about this. If it was a TIA, typically the symptoms will disappear within about 24 hours. The fact that this has gone on for more than 24 hours is an indicator that this is something more serious. smhair

Really, I do hope that you're seeking medical attention. I've not been very active on the boards for a while now because I've had too many things on my plate lately, but I want you to know that you are one of the people that I seek out as a member/poster here. Your relationship with Jay is very similar to my own relationship at home, and some of the things that you have said have been helpful and inspiring to me, and I hope to be seeing more from you.

My hopes and my prayers are with you that this is something that will be able to be rehabilitated without MAJOR distress. And I know that it's scary, but you NEED to take care of you. Right now the tables need to be turned and you need to cease taking care of her & the kids. This needs to be a time that you take care of YOU. If you don't take care of yourself, then there may not be another opportunity for you to be able to care of them. Do not feel guilty, or selfish, or any of that other nonsense. If you're really not well, then you don't have much - if anything really - to be able to give anyone else.

I'm worried, and hope that we hear news from you soon.

My friend had a stroke over a weekend. I could not figure out why she had not called me. So I called her and she was all mumbling over the phone. I called my father and he said to get her to a hospital straight away. She had a stroke, but she didn't have any therapies. I wish they had done so. But my friend did her own therapies: like writing her name alot and grabing pots and pans, stuff like that and once in a while she mumbles and falls down from time to time when she is excited about something and not paying any attention. But she knows it was just from her stroke and I make sure she has her medicines to take every month also. She also found out that she has high cholestrol (sp) to which contributed to her having her stroke.

Karen- I have just read your post about a possible stroke. I hope that you have gotten to a doctor or ER. It is clear to me that lots and lots of people here care about you a great deal. Please take care of you and realize you have done more than your share of taking care of everyone else, it is imperative that you consider yourself the priority now. Sending you all my prayers.
