Anyone else here have rosacea? I do and I'm wondering what you do for it. I have a gel, Metrogel that I apply to my face, but I was just wondering if anyone else has it and if they do anything else for it. Thanks!

Hi Miriam.  I've had it for several years.  I also use "Metro," but I use the lotion instead of the gel.  My derm doc said that the lotion was a little less drying than the gel.  I also only use it when my rosacea is pretty bad.

My skin has actually been a lot better this year, and I attribute it to the night cream I use.  It's called Ultra Calming Night Cream by Aveeno, and it is specifically made for rosacea.  You can get it at Walmart or any drugstore.  I absolutely love this stuff.  It feels really good going on, and it seems to calm my skin down quite a bit.  The only drawback is that it has a pretty strong smell (not bad, just strong).

I wash my face twice a day with Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser, and the daily moisturizer I use is Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.

My sister has it too (it runs in families), and it started affecting her eyes, so she had to take an oral antibiotic, but so far, it is just affecting my skin.

I'd also like to know if anyone else has it and what they do for it.

I had rosacea ever since I got pregnant with my first daughter. I also use Metro Cream not gel. I also use Cetaphil to wash my face, and ponds cream for under my eyes. I found that when I started to use mineral makeup by LOREAL my skin started to improve. I chose not to take antibotics for it.

I also have rosacea and use metro gel. I just started using a cleanser called prascion which is by script. It has sulfer ingredients in it but doesn't smell too bad. Last year I had two laser treatments which helped my cheeks but not my nose so much so am having another treatment just for the nose next week. The laser treatments are kind of expensive because insurance won't cover it considering it a cosmetic procedure but can be worth the money and effort IMHO. Not a cure but improvement. Lisa

I use Metro Gel. According to my dermatologist, it just got reformulated. And I have to say that I think that the re-formulation is much better for my skin. I also use a sulfur wash that I get by prescription. The combination of the new Metro Gel and the sulfur wash has been the most helpful for me, and I've been battling this rosacea for about 6 years now.

I also have rosacea in my eyes. My eye doctor has given me a steroid eye drop to use, but I'm not allowed to use it all the time, because it can cause glaucoma. I had to stop wearing my contact lenses a long time ago, but recently, I've started wearing a new brand. I don't wear them every day, just when I exercise or wear make up :)

Anyone else have rosacea in the eyes? I would love to have that eye surgery that corrects the vision, but I'm afraid that my rosacea/dry eye problems would just get worse.

I thought that rosacea was just that your skin turned red, I do have that. But maybe it is hot flashes, because it sounds like there is more to it. Could one of you please explain it to me??? Does the skin itch or burn? What is it like when you have it is your eyes?

Please let me know,

Hugs, Karen

Good questions, Karen! I am curious now as well. I always thought I had rosacea (I do not use anything for it) because I have always had red ruddy cheeks. Lately, though, I have been having bouts with burning red hot cheeks-hot flashes, just like Karen said. Is this rosacea, too??

And what does rosacea in the eyes feel like?
