Hey Fam!

OK, so the winter is FINNNNNALLLY coming to a close, praise b to God!  and the reality that I'm NOT going to be going back to work anytime soon is starting to set in.  For those that don't know or remember I left my job voluntarily in Nov 08. I was in a major flare, that will get better someday soon.  The unemployment rate in  my community is approaching 15% and there aren't many jobs out there right now.

Boredom is starting to set in. That's a good sign that I'm feeling better, but it doesn't make the boredom any better.

So.. here's the question.. what do you do to fill your time when you're bored or not feeling too great??

I like to play some computer games, cook, bake, sudoku, watch the wild life (but I live in a development that doesn't have any woods nearby so we don't get much wildlife entertainment here) and watch movies.

What do you do to while away the hours?

I love to do light gardening and also I work on genealogy.  That's a lot of fun and you learn so much history with it.  I also enjoy walking my dog and sometimes she gets two 1 mile walks in a day.

If it is above 50 degrees Im out side playing with dogs I cant say kids anymore because at 14 and 16 they play to rough. My kids play basketball fieldhockey, hockey, and track, that keeps us busy. I like to decorate move things around in house, We have lots of faux painting on walls some I dont like any more Time for new project, I like to read its good to find a buddy to swap books or public library. Also try to get in a minimum of half hour exercise a day..I will spend 5 minutes a day cleaning in each room it makes it easier in the long run. I do wrk out side the house 3 days a week cleaning houses. So that feels up some time. I dont know how much longer I can continue to clean.Kids get home around 3 if no sports at school, and right now we are in between basketball and track until monday!!! It does get better I remember when I was not working at all and at home and kids at school. Heck I rented a sander and redid the wood floors (hubby did not know until he walked in the door at 5.. I like to sew and have an embroidery machine have made some money with that machine tooo..
I also like to come on here when I am bored.

For me it is beadwork, going to the local coffee shop; even if I am not feeling social it is out and around people. I also read a ton all the time. For tv I go online to hulu.com or tv.com . I have no cable, it is a another bill I can not afford. I used to volunteer and will continue to do so again when and if my pain lets up to do so. I was at the local historical society. The new person in charge started to forget I was a volunteer and not paid and had no respect for my disabilities. So we will see if I go back there or somewhere else. If it is nice out I go sit on my stoop and just get some air. I have no green space in my complex and no nearby park. I hope you stay well and find things you like to do. Craft stores may have free or cheap groups for you to join to see if you like a hobby.

Oh Patti- I wish I could be bored!

I have worked fulltime for so many years and there was never enough time to get to any big projects around this house. I am slowly working on them now that I am not working. And talk about overwhelming- A-A-C-C-K-K!!!! Have had lots of pain and fatigue over the winter so did not get to much, but now am forcing myself with spring/summer coming!

In the evenings is when I may get a little bored because my body is done for the day but I too will watch a movie/TV or read.

Patti, I'm one of those people that have never had a boring day in my adult life. If I could only live long enough to do all that I want to do.

One of my winter projects was to get all the pictures off my computer, didn't happen, too many other things going on. I would love to get back to my genealogy. There is enough work in my house to keep me busy forever as slow as I am these days. I like to write things to my children and grandchildren for them to keep. The list goes on and on.

To me genealogy is one of the most fulfilling hobbies I've ever had. It's a life time project cause you never finish it.

luv and hugs

Yeah, once upon a time I was longing to be bored.  But NOW that I am, its not so much fun.  I think the unknown is very scary for me.  Anyway filling my time is a challenge, I want to do SOMETHING.. ANYTHING productive, but I can't rely on myself to follow thru.

I'm doing some volunteer work today, at my old place of business, only for a couple of hours.  Its nice but I couldn't do it everyday. shakehead

Hugs,

Patti

I very seldom get bored. I have too much of an imagination for that I guess. And too much to do. But when I do have down time, I like to read and listen to music. I also am an artist, so I like to paint.

I hope that you can find some solutions for your boredome. I know it has been a long winter. The sun is out here today so I am hopeing some more snow will melt. We have tons of it.

Best wishes for a wonderful eventful day.

Hugs, Karen

Hi Patti,

Made it to Boston and saw your post. It surprised me for you to be bored. You seem to be a whirlwind.

I have never had a boring minute. I have so much in life yet to explore and do. My list is endless. I started piano as an adult and absolutely love it. But that is the tip of my iceberg. I fill my day with projects galore and get so upset b/c this fibro inhibits so much.

How did the volunteering go??? I'm trying to train Maestro to be a nursing home visitor but he's still at the mouthing stage. He would have the elderly jumping out of their wheelchairs.

It's cold here but not terrible. I'm going out to dinner with a group of his friends tonight. Praying the body makes it...

Well I guess when the weather breaks I might have more to do.  The temps are going up to the 50s next week.  I'm not much of a gardener. So that's out.  I guess I'm still in this stupid flare and can't get the energy to do much.  Maybe my feelings of malaise are getting confused with boredom.  If I could just get the energy to get something started I'm sure I'd be a ball of fire, like I usually am.

Patsie, I'm glad you made it to Bean Town safe & sound.  I'm jealous, I LOVE Boston, all the great food, sights, history.. did I mention the food.. oh yeah and the fresh seafood.. MmmmMM!!!  I'm having New England Clam Chowder for dinner in your honor!! smilewinkgrin Have fun!!!  And safe travels home!!

I had fun volunteering today, I might go back next week for a couple of hours.

Hugs,
Patti
