hi,
i have not been officially diagnosed with fibro but my dr is considering it. I dont really no what he is waiting on but sometimes i feel like he is thinking my anxiety is causing my pain. I have been tested for many things , so far nothing except an ovarian cyst, but that has come and gone..... I do suffer from tremendous stress and anxiety is a big problem for me so it is hard , even for me, to know what is real and what isnt as far as pain. Some days i just ache all over, i still find it hard to believe that everyone doesnt feel this way. My back is the worse, always has been bad, then my ribcage started hurting along with my left side. Had test and more tests to rule out whatever needed to be ruled out. I feel so numb mentally about all of this, i dont know if that makes sense, i just am so tired physically and mentally of not being able to get an answer. i am only 37 but some days feel 80. the wierdest part for me has been the way my pain migrates throughout my body. The ribcage issue went on for four months, at this point it is only sore if i touch certain ribs which is a huge relief because it was constant aching for months. I get random pains throughout my body, leg pains, wrists, elbows, random spots on my back that feel like burning, hip pain (sometimes it is so bad on my hips that just touching the hip bones will cause extreme pain). I started reading about fibro and am trying to figure out if i am just convincing myself that this is what i have or if i really do have it.... i have had so many x rays , always expecting them to find something awful but there is nothing, nothing ever.... today i am having a lot of facial pain, just out of nowhere, my ribs finally ease up and now this face pain.

i have this skin issue too, dont know if it is related to fibro or not... i started getting these small circular spots , sort of like a greyish ring, really freaked me out. The dermatologist i saw for this let me know that he rarely sees this condition and was 'fascinated" by it, as if that is supposed to make me feel better. He did a biopsy of one and said that it is called porous keratosis (not sure of spelling) but anyway they are considered pre cancerous so they freeze them off. How lovely , cuz at that point i had 11 for him to freeze off, and then he told me my body would likely keep producing them. Mostly on one arm with a couple on my chest and upper back, so i have some nice scars from the freezing.... sorry i ramble here, i'm just in a bad mood, not really bad just confused.

i do see a chiropractor once a week as i have always had a curve in my spine as well as some slightly rotated vertebrae. The adjustments help but it is short term relief.

Anyway, i appreciate all the posts on these forums, it is always a relief to know that you are not alone when things get so confusing. I can definitely relate to the chronic pain that so many of you face each day and have even been able to pick up a few tips for relief from this board.

Hi! I understand exactly how you feel. I was just diagnosed last month, but I have had pain for about 30 years. It just got really bad the last year. And always in different areas. Several days ago my hands were killing me and my hips/sits bone area always very sore. Today it's my shoulders and neck. Wecome to this forum. Everyone is very supportive and helpful.

Anxietychick, it sounds like they are ruling out all the other things it could be before giving you a dx, that's a good thing. I know it's hard not having a name for all you feel but it sounds like they are getting closer to giving you one and it sounds like it could be fibro.

Are you on anything for the anxiety??? I have anxiety problems too and I take xanax which helps to relax me and in turn helps with the pain. I think I told you before that all my problems started with anxiety and panic attacks, it is a horrible thing to deal with.

It is strange how fibro can play musical chairs in your body and hurt from place to place.

Hang in there!!!

luv and hugs

Thank you for the replies. Yes the weather definitely plays a major role in my pain. We have had rain for several days and that always causes migraines for me.

I have a RX for xanax but it is almost out and my dr didnt really even want to prescribe it, but instead wanted to put me on lexapro. i have already been on lexapro once before and could not tolerate the side effects, actually i cant tolerate hardly any meds... i feel pathetic to be honest, i have been halving, even quartering my xanax, and just take a little piece of the pill when a new pain develops because each time i get a new pain it sends me into a panic.

i just feel like i cant clear my head out, i dont know if that is the anxiety or something else.....

I have been taking xanax for twenty years. It still helps me. I guess they say that it can be addicting, but if you need it, you need it. So I don't see anything wrong with taking it especailly if it helps you so much.

It sounds like you do have anxiety. We do have a wonderful anxiety and panic forum if you are interested in reading on there, or even posting. You might find some similarities with what you are going through.

I hope that you have a great day.

Hugs, Karen

Anxietychick,

Keep up with your doc. I know they can be so frustrating. For me, I'm ready to drop one doc, like the other one and then a couple months later its the other way around. Hang in there! Like Marlee said your doc is probably trying to rule out other diseases b/4 he feels totally confident in his diagnosis.

I fought for my diagnosis. I even got an second opinion. I felt hopeless at times, but I finally got some docs that seem to really care about what I say, which to me is very important.

All the pain/soreness you wrote about is all the pain/soreness I have experienced. My ribs will hurt so bad for a month or two and then they can be so tender to the touch. My right hip is the absolute worse for me. It has caused my trouble from the start. I have had x-ray, mri's down of my hip/back and no evidence of anything unusual in my hip. Go figure. I just got a presc. for Imitrex, my migraines are becoming to much. This last week was horrendous.

Take it easy,
Hugs,
Lori
