Hey LeeAnn,
I use to take Cymbalta(still wish I did) b/4 the Pristiq I take now. I personally thought it worked great for me. Yes, it can make you sleepy, thats why I always take my dosage at night. If your taking yours during the day, try it with food, maybe that's why your stomach gets upset. But, always remember to call your doctor if you are not comfortable with any side affects from any drug. It may take you a few days of taking it to get the noticable difference you want.

As for me, I would just about have a panic attack b/4 I took it, stressed out at the littlest things. And when I switched from Cymbalta to Effexor it was a noticable difference in the affect it had on me. Effexor didn't help a bit. Made me just as jumpy or worse than b/4 I started Cymbalta. So on to Pristiq now for me, works just as well as the Cymbalta did. My insurance doesn't cover Cymbalta anymore, which sucks.

Hugs,
Lori

wow, I am on cymbalta, I prefer it over peroxitine. I too had tiredness, I take mine around 3 or 4 pm. It helps me to be somewhat functional during the day..but let me tell ya, I've been tired forever it seems. My doc also is adding Lyrica to the mix. along with a bunch of other stuff. I have never been on so much stuff. She put me on some prednisone, I will miss it when i am off. At least i have some energy now. But not for much longer. I have around 10 more days left on it.
Oh, yeah, I do have toes and foot cramps. They are not full force yet. hope they never do cause the bit of cramp i feel is enough.. good luck to all.. this is one heck of a fight!!!

I'm on Cymbalta and the next scheduled appt with my rhuemy I plan on asking to come off of it. I just don't see a benefit of cymbalta. I'd like to try something else. I honestly don't think it helps for depression for me either.

I had the "overly alert mind" side affect at the beginning. Very wild dreams too. It went away in about a week or less. It was like constant free flowing thoughts and visions floating through my mind, all totally unconnected. Very odd, but it went away thank gawd!
I have been on cymbalta for a little over a month and my doc upted my dose to 120mg/day because I didnt have this great relief of my symptoms which I guess I was suppose to have. Well according to the pharm lit on cymbalta there was no benefit when they tested fibro patients at 120mg. The suggested dose is 60mg. (Ask your pharmacist for the big map like write up on it)
So now I am either a guinea pig or my doc is drawing at straws or cymbalta is another drug like lyrica which just wont work for me??

hope you have better luck & smaller doses! lol

Hi LeaAnn,

I just started Cymbalta last Wednesday.  I have been nauseaus since starting it (though I also had the flu from Saturday until yesterday...and it was the flu, because my whole family had it).  The nauseau started from the first pill, comes in waves, and increases after I eat.  I have had a significant loss of appetite too, even when I'm not too nauseaus - like food just doesn't look appetizing.  Even when I'm eating something I usually love, it doesn't taste as good once I begin to eat it.  I've lost 4 pounds over the last week.  While I don't like feeling nauseaus, I like the fact that my appetite has lessened. Fibro had given me an enormous appetite and a constant craving for carbs.

I have found that I really felt better mentally last Friday. For the first time in a very long time, I felt like "me" again.  I am truly wondering if I was suffering from mild depression, because I felt like I "woke up".  I felt energetic again and happier, like I used to be.

I actually noticed an increase in pain though, but I will give it time to see if that was the flu or the med.  I was wondering at first if, with the mild depression out of the way, the pain took center stage again.  We'll see.

I have also had this weird yawning side effect, which comes and goes.

Best of luck and I look forward to hearing updates on your side effects and overall affects from the med.  Since I just started too, I would love to see how it affects you too over the next few weeks.

Take care!

Kerri

Talk about crazy dreams.... weird no meaning just jarbelled random thoughts. I have not had a goodnights sleep since 3 days ago when i STARTED the cymbalta. I wake up almost hourly. I do have more energy today. Nothing taste good even choclate and bread.. I love those two and they are just bland. I only felt nasaua the 1st day.

I also take the 120 mg dose. I was wondering if the higher dose was for fibro. I know that 60mg is the anti-depression dose.
Does anyone have info on it?
I have had few negative side effects with it - it is hard to know if the tiredness is from the fibro or the med.I've had fatigue for such a long time.

Take care!

I tried and couldn't handle the side effects. Couldn't even hold my head up it made me so wacked out! Wish there was something similar that helped. Tried Lyrica also and had a similar effect.

I have been on cymbalta for several years and only recently [Nov 08] moved to 90mg from 60mg. I think it helps a bit more with a higher dose. I have been fortunate, it works for me, less pain and I tolerate it well, no side effects that I can tell.
