Hello, :-) wanted to give an update since i started taking High dose Prednisone.  I took 20mg Prednisone 3 times a day for 1 week and now am taking 10mg 3 times aday for 1 week.  After day 3, pain and swelling were gone.  I actually was able to get out and do some heavy lifting and working in yard that i have been avoiding due to the Costo.  i currently am still pain free and feel better than i have felt in 3 years.  Now the question comes?  will it saty that wy?  i will just have to wait and see.  Once i am copletely off the medicaton i will probally take it easy just to make sure.  The Dr. did write 3 refills on the rx in case it comes back.  I have only had a  few side effects from the medication.  The most obvious is i feel hot and look like i have a tan.  the other is sleep, if i dont take early in the evening, then i have a hard time sleeping.  besides that that it is so nice feeling better.  i hope this helps people because it has certainly helped me.  If you have ny questions just send a reply and i will holler back.  This site is awsome and i know there are people who dont know about it, so pread the word.  Thanks to al who have written me.

Did you clean your home from top to bottom while on prednisone? lol

I am happy you feel better. Steroids do not work on folks who only have fibro. It is more effective on arthritis and chron's disease.

Hey T!!

Glad you're feeling better!!! That's great!!!  If predisone worked for us we'd all be having it IV'd into our veins.. but I'm sure glad it helped you!!!

Thanks for your positive thoughts on this site.. I'm sure the moderators & website developers would be happy to see that!!!  I know this site has helped me more than all of my doctors put together!!

Take care & happy Springtime!!

T-Man, I have had to take Prednisone for Crohn's and also for immune inner ear disease.  Yes, you do feel very good at first.  The first time I took it I pretty much landscaped the front yard!   shocked   After several weeks I looked like the Pillsbury Doughboy!  But, you do need to be careful of Prednisone.  I was taking 80 mg a day for a month for my ear problem.  Within a week and a half I was flat on my back and sick as a dog....it basically shut down my immune system.  I was catching anything that came down the pike.  You have to wean yourself off it slowly, too.  It took me four months to be weaned off that much Prednisone.  Prednisone also is hard on your bones.  So, taking it for a short period of time is good but I know, for me, I'd try to get off it as soon as you feel better.

Here is a link all about Prednisone
