First time taking any meds for fibro, so I'm not sure what to expect.
I just started taking 1/2 of a 10mg flexeril at bedtime.  My husband said I slept well 'cause I was snoring. :) hee hee, but I feel the same during the day.  I will try taking it during the day on Sat. (when I don't have to be at work - just in case it makes me sleepy).
Has anyone had success with flexeril?  Right away or after taking it for a while? During the day?
Thanks,
~Ang~

I have been taking Flexeril "as needed" for years. 10mg up to 3x a day. An Rx for 50 tabs usually lasts me about 3 months, so obviously I'm not over using it! But I was recently dx'd with a stomach motility problem and was told to stop taking Flexeril. Okay, so, I tried. But my hips and legs have been SO bad lately! I've been a good girl and haven't resorted to taking a Flexeril--until this morning. I had a crazy bad dream and woke up around 5:00 a.m. with every muscle in my body completely tensed up and clenching my teeth really bad. I thought, "Oh the pain I will be in for days from this!!!" So I gave in. I took two Tylenol and one Flexeril and went back to bed. LOL I slept like a baby until 11:00 a.m.! And I feel better than I have in at least a couple of weeks!

I have used Flexeril for about 4 years now. I only take it at bedtime to help me sleep. I didn't want to take it during the day because, for me, if something says "may cause drowsiness" it will put me to sleep or I will walk around in a fog. I already have a fog going on all the time so I don't want to add to that. As far as sleep goes, I sleep pretty well most of the time unless I am in a major flare, then nothing helps. So on a scale of 1 to 10 I give it an 8. i do get alot of benefits from it. On the down side, it can make me sleep for 10 to 14 hours when my CFS is flaring. It is a balancing act & one I am trying to learn. LOL!!! Hugs, Denise

My wife calls Flexeril my "Dead to the World" pill because it knocks me out. Can not possibly take it during the day and have quit taking it at night because I have to wake up for work....

When I was first diagnosed, flexeril cut my amount of pain in half.

I was taking it at bedtime. Within a few months it was two at bedtime because it didn't make me tired anymore. These were 10 mg. This was about six months ago.

Now, two don't make me tired, and I ended up on trazodone with the flexeril to get me to sleep. And now I am up to two trazodone with the flexeril to get me to sleep.

I tried NOT taking the flexeril, when the prescription ran out and it was Christmas Eve, but I had the same problem as songbird... within a few days I was flaring and sick. The pharmacy didnt open back up till the monday after Christmas.

It bothers me sometimes, to think about how much pain I would be in without the meds. I wonder if I would even be able to function normally without it -- my guess is no.

When I get on meds now I try to have at least one day during the week I dont take them, to keep from having meds stop working like the flexeril quit working for me. Or at least it seems like it did. If I were you, if you need the flexeril at night every night, I would mix it up with something natural like melatonin a few days a week, with no flexeril on those days, to keep it from not working anymore, because it is a really low dose and you'll quickly get a tolerance to it.

Thanks all.  This is my first medication to try.  Problem is, I've never had trouble sleeping at night.  so, for it to work during the night is of no benefit to me, (at least not yet).  I want to try taking it during the day, but I have to wait until Sat before I can try it for the first time.  I am in so much pain during the day.  Will see how it goes this weekend.

I tried taking a whole 10 MG Flexeril at night to help me sleep but it had a reverse effect on me.  It made me anxious.  I can take it during the day but not at night.  I take an Ambien instead.
Hugs to Everyone!
