Hey Everyone, I have been having signs of Fibro and I thought I would come over to this form and see what you think. I actually have Lupus and I was diagnosed with that last year. I am only 16 and I really dont know where to look for help and I have been experiencing horrible back pain. Whenever Im stressed or not rested I notice that I get a pain like a knife is in my neck just under the skull. At the moment I am getting pains in my shoulder when I breath right along the shoulder bone.. but Its only on one side. When the pain does go away it always seems numb and burning around my back. And just two weeks ago I went to the hospital for heart pain when I was breathing... but all of the tests came back normal and they think I just had swelling around my heart.. Its hard enough having lupus, and Im pretty sure Im developing fibromyalgia but I dont wanna jump to conclusions. My Rhumey perscribed tramadol for me and that seems to help but I try not to use it to much.
Medications: Prednisone 5mg. Plaquenil 300mg. Methotrexate 12.5mg. Naproxen (for pain). Multivitamin. Calcium. Fish Oil. Vitamin D. Flaxseed oil. Folic Acid.

Bigsanfer, welcome to the forum.  It is so hard to be 16 & have such an illness as Lupus.  I hope it is in remission.  ((((((((((((((big soft hug))))))))))))))))  The neck pain you describe, certainly sounds like the pain I get with Fibro but you will need to have your Doctor do the needed testing to find out.  That pain in the neck can really hurt & it is something I have had since I first got Fibro.  Please read the Fibro 101 thread, it is the second thread down & has some very good information on Fibro.  I hope you don't have it!!  It is possible it could also be another AI disease so be sure to see your doctor soon, it sounds like you are very level headed & reasonable, so take it one step at a time.  I hope you will find some helpful answers in the Fibro 101 thread.  Come back often & let us know how you are doing OK?  Gentle hugs, Denise

Hello,  I also have Lupus and Fibro. The pain you are discribing does sound like fibro. I experience the same pain and have since my early 20's. Stress and fatigue does trigger my pain alot. You really should discuss it with your rheumy. I know it must be really hard to have these terrible conditions at such a young age. It is good you have been dx early though so you can receive treatment. I wasn't dx until my 40's. Take good care of yourself!

Hey Big..

Check out fibromyalgia 101.. the second thread on the forum, there's lots of info on there that might help answer some of your questions.

Since you're already seeing a rheumy I would make sure he/she knows about your pain and questions.  Only a medical doctor can really properly dx fibro ..  I wouldn't want to play doctor, you'll need a few tests to really know for sure and the pain and other issues need to be "on going", meaning, that you've had them for a  long time.  So, letting your doctor know is the most important thing.

I take tramadol, I also take ibuprofen along with it if I'm having a lot of pain, you might want to check with your doctor or phamacist to see if that's ok.  That really seems to help break the pain cycle for me.

I'm glad you found the forum and I hope you'll continue posting!  This is a great place to learn about fibro.  Everyone's welcome on the site, whether the have fibro, have a family member that does or those think they do.  We have lots of great members here that really care and are very willing to help.

I sure do hope you don't have fibro AND lupus.  I know that would be a tough dx.  But there's lots of coping skills that I've learned from this site.

Please keep in touch and let us know how things are going.  I'm sure there will be more members stopping by to greet you.

Hi, Bigsanfer, and welcome!  You have already been given excellent advice so I really don't have much to add.  It is important that you ask your doctor about this so you REALLY know for sure.
I am so glad that you decided to pop over here and join in.  We have a great group here that love to help one another and also really do care about each other, too.  We have a gentleman that has lupus but posts here because we have so many of the same symptoms.
Anyway, read the Fibro 101 thread, back posts, and ask questions.  We are here to help you.  Hope to hear more from you soon.
