Hi MrsCavbar,

That is a fancy term for hardening or loss of elasticity of the arteries. It can often develop by a buildup of the bad cholesterol but has other causes. You can do a general search on it but I think your doc owes you his time to explain this to you. I'm assuming he will be returning for some kind of treatment/medications/whatever? Keep us up to date, OK?

Maybe if you researched arteriosclerosis you may find information. He can do things to stay as healthy as possible. they include medication, lots of exercise and a good diet. Also, not getting diabetes can help.

There are surgical interventions also. It is a challenge but can be lived with. Oh, no smoking.

He's been put on a BP pill and Zocor, and is doing well from that, but he also had surgery today, to remove the rod and pins holding his leg together (Former roughneck) and he's doing well from that too. Heart cath yesterday and hardware and 'debriement' removal and yes, I know debriment is spelled wrong, but being at the hosp 2 days in a row, far from home with a 4 y/o and fibro.... I'm gonna medicate and whisper sweet nothings to my heating pad.

Also, I have to say, thank you guys, for listening, for helping and mainly just being yourselves.
