I don't know if the doctor's help or not Stari.  Everything they have done for me so far, has not seemed to help and the stuff they have given me has seemed to hurt....some of the things on here though have helped.....

In fairness to them, I have come to believe from reading the post on here, that everybody responds to this disease differently and what works for one won't work for someone else.

Where I live, there are not alot of doctors that treat fibromyalgia. The rhumatologist that diagnosed me told me he almost wouldn't see me because he knew what I had from the consultation with the neurologist that my GP sent me to.  So I guess, it all depends on which doctor you get and keep looking until you find one that can...I go back in June and if I haven't improved then I guess we will try to get a referal to the Mayo Clinic down in Jacksonville which is a 200 mile cruise...but around here, if you ask for a referal, then that doctor usually takes a hands off policy towards you..

Best of luck with Mayo. I have been on a wait list for 9 months. They seem overwhelmed right now unless an emergency.

Thank you, I went to a variety of doctors last year and noone listened to me. I keep being told that it takes awhile for the body to heal after an accident. I was diagnoised with fibro in Dec 08 and I like my doc but he has put me on compound prescriptions, iodine and a thryoid med. Now he wants me to lithium..have you ever heard of anyone taking that for fibro? I am being to think that the only people who understand it are the people who have it.

Have a safe trip to Mayo Clinic in June...

I've never heard of lithium for fibromyalgia. It's an anti-psychotic used for bipolar disorder. Sometimes for depression. Weird. But...drug companies come up with new experiments and ideas all the time, so keep us in the loop as to how that works for ya.
I have Fibromyalgia, and nothing else!
I take Lyrica 225 mg/day and Tramadol (150mg time-released) and amytriptilene 7.5mg

I have done some reading on the net about lihtium and I am not going to take it. I am not bipolar and lithium effects the salt in the muscle.
