I consulted with a dietitian yesterday to help me figure out what the heck I can eat with my multiple gastrointestinal issues.  I also asked about fibro.
She said the only thing I could do nutritionally to improve the fibro symptoms is to QUIT CAFFEINE.  shakehead
I guess we all pretty much already knew that caffeine wasn't really helping us but I thought it was interesting that it was the only recommendation from the RD regarding fibro.
What I had really gone in to see her about was figuring out how to marry the dietary restrictions for gastroparesis with the dietary needs of IBS, and colon cancer prevention, etc. - i.e. FIBER FIBER FIBER.  She basically told me the gastroparesis trumps all that other stuff so don't eat fiber.  nono
She gave me very strict guidelines to follow.   eyes Hmm.  Maybe I'll start NEXT week.

I had to quit caffeine for 1 month after my breast reconstruction surgery. I thought I would never make it the 30 days without my tea. And I still had fibro symptoms, btw.
I have Fibromyalgia, and nothing else!
I take Lyrica 225 mg/day and Tramadol (150mg time-released) and amytriptilene 7.5mg

Quitting caffeine is supposed to help with deep sleep and especially, muscle spasms and tightness.

Donna I would be interested in knowing what she recommended for the gastroparesis and IBS together if you don't mind sharing. You can e-mail me if you like or put it on the gastroparesis thread.
It's bad enough that I can't eat like normal people, I'm not giving up my morning caffeine.
luv and hugs
