My doctor told me he would give me a rx for protonix sinc Flexeril has been known to give people acid reflux and heartburn.  Wow, I quit taking it just yesterday and all day I have felt like vomiting!!!!  This is why I called him in the first place, I quit taking it because I didn't think it helped much (apparently I was wrong!) and I feel like it gives me bad breath, with a funny feeling in my mouth.

Hi Curlykraut.

Love your name, BTW...lol I do get burning from some of my meds but I don't take flexeril. When I search the web I found that acid reflux was a less common side effect so lucky you, huh?? My doc has be keep Prilosec on hand so I can take it if any meds bother my stomach. Just a thought...

Hi Jules.  I don't take Flexeril, but I do take Etodolac (an NSAID) that really aggravates my reflux (which I already had).  I also take Prilosec, sometimes twice a day (it was prescribed for me that way).

The literature that came with the Etodolac said to take it with a full glass of water help prevent digestive symptoms.  The water seems to help dilute it when it's digesting, so I'm wondering if taking the Flexeril with more water might help a little.  Just a thought.   Hope you feel better soon.  :-)

I get acid reflux with flexeril (cyclobenzaprine). I looked around and found that since flexeril is a muscle relaxer, it MAY relax the esophageal sphincter muscle, thus, causing the acid reflux I have been getting. It may be happening to you.

It happened so often, that I quit taking my flexeril
