Good morning , I have been having more and more pain in my legs and feet , I have to use my cane or walker more often , all due to the fibro . I put them up and even soak in hot bath with epsom salts, still no results . I can do alright one day maybe two with no problems, then after that I am barelly moving for days. I am at a loss , It gets too hard to sit at the puter due to my legs hanging down. Help me ?? And get this , my prymary told me last month that lyrica is Not for fibro , is he loosing his mind ??? Thankyou for any advice and have a wonderfull day . Peace and love, hugg

Oh, Kit, that's awful.  Read the thread called "Leaving the Doctor's Office in Tears" that was posted yesterday.  Information was given on how to find a good doctor and a link to finding FM doctors is on that thread, too.  It sure sounds like you need another doctor.

Hi Kit,
I would say your doctor is misinformed at best! Lyrica changed my life. I have been having a flare for about 2 months now...but it was only really bad for about 2 weeks. I am going to see my doc and find out if we need to change the dosage.
However, before the flare, the only time I really hurt where I couldn't function was when I ran out of Lyrica. I believe that the reason this flare has not been full blown is because of the lyrica.
I don't take any other meds for fibro. And it has worked wonders.
Just my 2 cents, but you need another doc, and fast!

Oh KitKat, I feel ya! I have been having extreme pain in my right leg, from hip to foot. I was off work for a week and a half because I couldn't sit, stand let alone walk. I go from a decent day of mild aches and pains to I can barely walk, all the time. I am still trying to learn how much I can do/take in a day to the next.

I agree that you need to check on finding a new doc. Nothing worse than working with a doc that doesn't believe in us or have an understanding of what is available for us fibromites.

I wish you well,
HUGS,

I'm really astounded by the things that doctors say sometimes. That definitely sounds like misinformation to me. My aunt had great results on Lyrica for different pain condition, and she had to pay for it out of pocket because the insurance company told her they'd only pay for it if she had fibro, because that's what it was approved for.

Hope you get the help you need,

Daisy

It is not made for fibro, it is tested for fibro and has been found to help nerve pain over a placebo. It has been approved by the fda for this purpose.

I am sorry you are feeling so awful. I hope you get a better doc who will help you.

Good evening, I hope.  I too have Fibromyalgia, and I too take Lyrica.  Yes! Lyrica is for us Fibromyalgia Patients, although at times it may seem like it does not work.

Hope this helps!

Im sorry you are having so much leg/ foot pain Kit Kat. It sounds like you are doing things to take care of yourself. Do you have someone to massage your legs? That helps me alot. Magnesium has helped my muscle cramps and B12 helps the muscles relax. I have alot of the same pain.
And just to play the devil's advocate...Lyrica did nothing for my fibro. Its not a given that it will work.

Good luck finding a kinder doctor!

The Lyrica helped me for about two years and then stopped. I went off of it for a year, then I started back up again and it has worked wonders for me again. Your doctor is plain nuts. Find another!! The only problem is the weight gain. That is a problem for me. I have bad leg and feet pain from the fibro too, by the way.

 Hi KitKat,

I too have foot and leg pain.  and the feet are getting worse.  I have found some inserts for my sneakers that help some.  I also have found a lady who is good with reflexology and she did my feet last week and they felt a bit better.   So I am going again today, I feel if I am going to do massage things, I need to have something each week.  The massages are more xpensive, so I will only do that once a month.   I was also reading up on tanning beds, I was told to try that,  but there are some tanning beds with certain rays especially for fibro and arthritis.

I feel for you also.  Somedays I think is this really a disease or condition or is it a name they give for what they don't know I have.  Frustrating.  I can't seem to find a doctor either who knows how to deal with fibro.     I also have spots on my arms and thighs that I keep asking the doctors what they are, I was told they are freckles.  They aren't freckles,  they appear and are crusty on top and then start getting light brown, but the crusty part stays.    One of them said age spots. well I know my mother had age spots and they were smooth.   The rheumie said I should go see the dermatologist, well if he knows about fibro, shouldn't he know about the spots?  Just frustrating the doctors around here don't know what they are doing. even spacialists.

You have to be your own advocate and read up on things and document what you take that does help.    I was put on cymbalta and it does nothing for me. The rheumie wanted to put me on a higher dose, I said no.

I do hope you get some help.  Don't be afraid to ask people, or nurses or any one else if they know of a doctor who deals well with fibro.   Nurses may have insight more then a another doctor.

take care

Deb

Ohhh Dear Deb , wow I feel for you also now .. Try if you can massage your own feet if fyou can , use massage oil or just body lotion , it does help ..Sherrine has the right thing , reflexology . i have a book on it . It shows you where on each toe , the side of the foot ect ; where it effects the Entire body !!!!  and the sopt thing , I'm lost on that . I get very strange rashes on my legs at times, no one knows what it is .. hmmm docs, go figure . I think with all the reserch we all do ourselves and share on here , we are much better off on some things. I also go to NFA national fibromyalgia assoc site . heck I even call them at times and they help
as much as they can . Good luck , keep me ( us ) updated please of how your doing ..

Hi, I too have this pain in my legs but methadone 10mg helps me for three day .  Lyrica only helps nerve damage for me and it acts as help for seizures.
