Fibromyalgia and Cataracts. I am 59 years old and have had fibromyalgia for many years. I need to have cataract surgery and would appreciate if someone who has had the surgery could share their experience with me.

How did your cataract surgery go?

Were there any complications? Were the complications related to your fibromyalgia?

Were any medications given during or after surgery? Any reactions to medications?

Any other information that may help me prepare for or recover from the surgery?

Thank you for taking time to help me.

Hi j cattt
I have Fibromyalgia and Cataracts also. ( I almost forgot about the cataracts since I was DX with Fibro). I haven't had the cataract surgery yet and its scarry knowing thats ahead. I've been told by others that its not bad to go through. My cataracts are inheirted . I just stopped taking Cymbalta for Fibro pain, too many side affects. One of the side affects was blurred vision. Along with cataracts it was difficult to see. Good luck and keep me posted on your surgery.

Hi, at the age of 40 I had a cataract surgery on my left eye. I had no complication after it because I followed the doctor's orders to the T. But that was easy to do because my right eye is blind so I couldn't walk around any way or read after surgery. I only need glasses to read now which is great.

At the age of 45 I had the cataract removed from my right eye. Did not go so well because I was reading a book after surgery. Did you know that when one eye moves the other eye moves in the same direction. I didn't.

At the age of 49 I had laser surgery to remove the cataracts from both my left and right eye. It is possible to get a second cataract after having cataract surgery..ugh.

Follow the doctor's instructions and you will be okay. Please keep in touch.

Hi donelson: I don't believe HealingWell has a cataract forum or anything similar that I know of.

I just did a quick search online and did find some cataract forums:

My husband had cataract surgery in August and it turned out well.  Hope this helps and best wishes.
