Hi, I wanted to introduce myself. I have been reading for a couple of months and have learned so much here.

My fibro started about five years ago after a fall while running. I hurt my back (not even seriously!) and then I just added body parts after that - hips, shoulders, hands, neck. I guess I was predisposed to it and it just took the right injury to get it started.

I see a dr at a pain clinic right now and he has tried the trigger point injections, and changed my medications. The one medicine so far that has seemed to help is Amrix (slow release flexeril).

I am looking forward to being here!  :-)

Hi, Upbeat, and welcome!  If you've been reading then you know what a great group of people we have on this forum!  We love helping people and we also really do care about each other.  You will make many friends here.  We also have a few "virtual parties"...usually at my house...so join in!  (I'm still cleaning up after the last one.  smilewinkgrin )

If you haven't already, be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum.  There is a lot of good information in there and will help you a lot to understand this illness.

I'm so glad that you found us and joined in!  I hope to hear more from you soon.

Hey upbeat!

So that was YOU I saw sitting over in the corner like a sweet wallflower...lol I sure am glad you have joined in. As you already know this is a wonderful family of folks who truly understand what you are going thru. Even though our family cares and does whatever they can to help, there is nothing like talking to another fibromite to gain that understanding that we need so desperately to get through the hard times. And you are one of those that I need to help get ME through each day. It takes all of us to hold each other up...and we WILL make it!

Hugs,
Chutzie

Hey Upbeat. I have to say I love the name.

Welcome to the forum. I am fairly new here myself. I know what about this being the favorite. I searched and searched forums. This one just makes you feel at home.

I am looking forward to getting to know you.

See you around!

Hi Upbeat and Welcome-

Glad to hear the Amrix is helping. I have not tried the trigger point injections- little leary of it right now, but keeping an open mind to them. You have come to a great place, and I think you will enjoy it here! :-)

Jill - I have to say I don't think I would have the injections again. I had some weird reaction to them and ended up with huge welts over the sites - the itching drove me crazy!

Doodie and Jokat - Thanks for the welcome!
