I have what feels like electrical pains all over my body and my skin itches like heck. I feel like something is biting me.  I don't understand. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow (Wednesday). I was talking with my Chiropractor today about the x-ray results. I know somehow he can't help me anymore. He virtually told me to have a fight with my Internest Dr. and to push it. Plus he doesn't think I have Fibromyalgia, because when he manipulated my head, neck and shoulders and didn't scream out in pain plus my headaches got better as well as the upper half of my chest area.

Then I said something like, " I don't think it's Fibro either because I don't have the swelling or the stiffness like most of the other Fibro. patients." Just something weird to talk about the my Chiropractor. He's a really good diognostitionist (sp). He knows me better than my dr. does.  Then he says, "You've been hurting for a long time and no one has listened or done anything about my pain. And so when I'm in pain, I don't like to even do a little excercising and I can't loose the weight I need to and my blood sugars aren't the way they should be."

Any comments

Yes, I'm going to have a fight with my doctor today (Wed). I'm going to tell him what is going to happen and if he doesn't do anything then he better find me a medical professional that will help me.

Also my Chiro. noticed that I had a big liver and spleen within the x-ray and that my liver is squishing one of my kidneys.

Dear Hara: The itching all over is contributed to liver problems. As is an enlarged liver. Rather than seeing your doc and fighting, perhaps a "matter of fact approach", might get you better results. i would (just my opinion) request a consult with an internist. Perhaps just state what your Chiro said, and about the itching and hopefully the doc can put it together for you. The ëlectrical pains, well, "I'm not sure". It sounds like your Central Nervous System is over stimulated . This may or maynot be related to liver problems, but more likely to Fibro or some other neurological manifestation. I would wait till I found out about the liver, perhaps it's also related? Again, just my opinion. I too have weird neurological manifestations with Fibro. It's like the signalling system is out of whack. However, they raerly exist for more than a day so, I let them go. Just another thing to accept, for me. I wish you all the best.

Hara, first of all, fibromyalgia does NOT cause swelling.  It just feels like things are swollen.  It you truly are getting swelling it is being caused by something else.  We can also retain water and if you have swelling in your legs, feet, or ankles that is edema.  You also could have fibromyalgia and something else, too.  But, nearly all of us have the stiffness...especially upon waking up.

I have had chiropractic treatment since developing fibro and when they did the head and neck manipulation I didn't scream out in pain either.  But that doesn't mean I don't have fibro.  You need someone who really understands this illness.

Did you see the symptoms list on Fibro 101?  That may help you too.  Of the 59 symptoms I have 27 of them.

Definitely have that liver checked out.  My doctor does a liver panel at least once a year because of the medication I take...and I actually don't take as much as many on here.  Everything filters through the liver.  Are you taking Tramadol?  That can cause itching in some patients.  So there can be several different things going on.  Medication can be a culprit too.

Please let us know how your doctor's appointment went.  Remember, you are the boss.  You hire your doctors to take care of  you so you need to get your questions answered.  Good luck!  I hope you have a very successful trip.

Yup. You really have to pay attention to which meds you accept. Acetominophen under 4000mgs. a day, always. Never drink if you take acetomenophen. The quickest way to blow your liver is to exceed 4000mg. of acetominophen a day, and then have an occasional few beers. The acetominophen bothers me because my maintenance dose of Codeine/acetominophen Combo, has exactly 3,000 mgs. of acetominophen. It could be cut in half if the doc would supply the next med up which has more codeine, but one half the acetominophen. Also, if i'm wrong, correct me, doesn't Lyrica affect the liver?

I'm not on Lyrica. I have an appointment also with my Rheumy on the 22nd of May because the Gampentin (sp)at 500mg I'm on isn't strong enough even at three times a day.  I'll be on my way to my Internest doctor who makes me mad every-now-and-then.

Hara,
I have a lot of that electricity feeling stuff, too. I have a lot of spinal problems so I'm not so sure that some of it is from that. I feel like I'm being electrocuted or something and I will just rub my skin nearly raw trying to get it to stop. I've yet to find anything to stop the feeling but eventually it goes away, thank goodness, or we would lose our minds. Good luck with your trip to the doc.

My Internest doc is an I@%$T!!!..... gurrrrrrr
I give him my x-rays from the Chiropractor. He flips them around and says, "Oh that looks ok." I started fuming....... I told him my skin was crawling ...like it had electricity flowing through it for some reason. At least he said he didn't know what that was?

I called my insurance company and told them I needed a new M.D. Woman doctor and one that would 1st take my insurance and 2 do what I ask and 3 don't look at me like I'm some do-do. I do have to wait about 3 months because I have a C-Pap machine coming and I have to prove to the insurance company that I will actually use it and not just say I will. So for now I will be ok.

I see my Rheumy on the 22nd. Let's see what she has to say for herself.

Hey Hara -- I, too, have the itchy, crawly feeling often. Sometimes the 'electricity', as well, but fortunately that part does not last very long. I just about lose it before it lets up!
I hope that you get some resolution to your doctor problems quickly.....So many of them don't know much about this weird condition and some don't believe in it....But there are some good ones out there if we can just find them. Hang in there as best you can until you get someone caring and willing to work with you!
Thinking about you and sending gentle (((hugs))) -

Electricity is a great way to describe it - it sizzles across my skin, makes it feel like lightning is about to strike somewhere, and ends in goosebumps on the skin. It's happening as I write this! it's traveling all across my arms, down my right side, over legs just like a wave. After that electric feeling subsides the joint it passed over hurts like heck (usually neck, knees and elbows). Right now my right knee is throbbing in the aftermath. If it is not neurological I don't know what is!
