Aspartame has been blamed for a lot of things but none of it has been scientifically proven... it's all anecdotal. I'm not saying that you didn't feel better after giving up the Diet Dr. Pepper, maybe you did, but I'd like to see some studies before I blame everything on the diet soda.
Just so you know, I haven't had soda of any kind in over five years... I gave up high fructose corn syrup because I believe that it contributes to my migraines, and after I started taking Topamax, soda just started tasting bad. Okay, not completely true, I've been drinking a couple of Diet Cokes here and there recently (last two months), but I'm giving them up because they truly do taste horrible - I just wanted something more than coffee and water.
I developed fibromyalgia *after* I gave up the soda. I also developed arthritis in my wrists after giving up the soda.
I don't eat anything with artificial sweeteners either. I prefer sugar over all of them.
When I did drink soda after I gave up the HFCS, I liked Jones sodas - they're made with sugar...
