My GI told me I have connected tissue disease. He explained it to me as having " symptoms of a lot of different syndromes". I actually don't remember if he said mixed connected or just connected tissue disease.

What is this? Is this another part of Fibromyalgia?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey! Great question, although I was surprised that your GI diagnosed you with MCTD [mixed connective tissue disorder]. That was my first Dx, too- from a rheumatologist. Three months later I was seen by a new rheumy [we moved] and was told that MCTD did't even exist! MCTD is generally understood to be an auto immune issue, and the debate is still on regarding whether FM is a member of the auto immune category. Keep in mind that many professionals believe that the connective tissue in the body- the fascia- is a central focus of FM research, so there is much yet to be learned. Do some reading on myofascial pain and it may help some puzzle pieces come together. Here is a link to a site that I usually learn alot from- its a site that I am neither involved with, nor derive financial gain from- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_connective_tissue_disease. Good luck learning and let us know anything you discover :)

Thanks for the link.

I have an appt for Mayo Clinic in July. I will be seeing a rheumy doc and a GI doctor. I am anxious to hear what they have to say!
