Hi guys, it's sahaymes again!

My fibromyalgia doctor had recommended Savella might be an alternative for some of the problems I've been having with my Fibromyalgia.

He told me that the FDA hasn't approved it, yet I've read that some people have been taking it already.

Isn't it more of an antidepressant versus anything else?

Thanks to my all my Fibro Friends-

sahaymes.
I've had Chron's Disease for about 10 or so years and I've had Fibromyalgia for about a year and a half. Everyday is a struggle with both!

I know it has been approved because my rheumy offered it to me.  I had such bad side effects from Lyrica that I passed.  Also, it is such a new drug that it makes me hesitant to try.  Hope this helps and good luck.

It came out in January 2009 and yes it is in the category of antidepressant (b/c it works on the compounds in your brain). If I am not confused...so is Lyrica, Cymbalta...everything they use to treat us...

Call me fussy, but I want a gout medicine for my gout, a pain medicine for my pain, a thyroid medicine for hypothyroidism, and an anti-depressant for depression. All this "off label" stuff makes my head spin and gives horrific side-effects.
