My medical office has an Urgent Care medical office upstairs, but I have to get permission from my doctor's nurse first before I can go to the Urgent Care clinic.... OMG!!!!! mad

I am in alot of pain so much pain infact that my tongue even hurts. It's been since last Thursday when I left a message. I left several infact. I am so mad.. mad I'm at my breaking point. I really am.

That is ridiculous!!! Go to the office and tell them you are going up to urgent care so they need to do whatever it is they need to do pronto. They may ignore your phone calls but they can't ignore your body being in their faces. I have found in my years of experience we just have to be forceful sometimes to get someone's attention.

I hope you get the help you need!!!!

luv and hugs

From my experience, the receptionists/nurses or whoever answers the phone has not given my doctor the message.  The last time I saw my rheumy he said "I thought I told you to call me in a week."  It turns out the receptionist spelled my name wrong and he was returning my call to someone else whose name was similar to mine.

I HAVE walked into the office without an appointment and said I wanted a prescription.  It works.

I used to call the office directly and get a receptionist...especially if I needed to see the doctor.  I never could see my doctor...only nurse practioners.  The only time I got to see my doctor was when I scheduled an appointment after I had just seen him.  (He wants to see me every three months)

Finally I talked to him about this.  I told him that the only time I saw him was when there was nothing wrong!  Well, at least at my doctor's office (there are five doctors in this practice) each doctor has an extension number that sends you to his main nurse.  Now, I call the office, put in the extension number, and get his nurse who DOES give him the messages.  She gets right back to me, too, and also calls in prescriptions for me.  And, he always keeps a few open appointments for emergencies and I've used those at times too.

I went to this doctor for nearly 8 years before I knew about this.  Perhaps your doctor has something set up like this too.  I know I'd definitely talk to him about it.

I called a doctor to get my daughter in over & over. They never called me back. Finally I called again & said call me even if she can't get an appt. They called & got her in at the end of the month. My next move was to plant myself in their office. I think of my daugher & her problems all the time, the doctors only think of them during the 15 minute appointment!

So sorry this is happening to you. Please go to the office and be seen. Let us know how you are doing.

We just moved, so I'm shopping for new doctors. I liked all of mine...so it's very hard. I hope never to have to go through what you are.

Just so you know - I was a receptionist in an ER for 7yrs. I always gave the nurses and doctors their messages. I think these people are being beyond rude. The health care field means just that "health care". Please know we around here, care. Please get some help.

Well, I finally got a call back today right after I called the doc's office from work. I have an appointment for tomorrow, but I forgot that I have the Housing Authority coming on Friday. I have to see what my next door neighbor is doing?
