Hi all,

Yesterday I had my gyno check up which I was way over due for. Anyway my doctor did not know I had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She immediately told me she has been working very hard on it for over 10 years. She claims to have a very good success rate with fish oil pills and depression and pain. I think we all know that depression and pain use similar pathways. Anyway she has taken most of her patients off of antidepressants due to this oil regimen. The dosage is high and is very gradually increased. Apparently the antidepressants eventually stop working and need changes whereas the oil does not. She is writing a paper about her results for the AMA and has done this research with her husband who is a locally well respected psychiatrist.

It is specific oil not just any thing on the market shelf. If interested I can find specifics for anyone interested, It can cause diarrhea if not done in a proper manner and cannot be used with aspirin therapy b/c it too thins the blood. This is why fish oil is so touted for lowering LDL.

I am not on nor need antidepressants but many of us do.

Have a happy day, Patsie

Hmmm. I use a fish oil supplement for psoriasis and heart health. Perhaps not enough for the pain benefits. That's interesting though. Something to keep in mind. Thanks!

Very interesting. It seems as though this may just be one more example of how proper supplementation can really make a difference in how we feel! I would be interested in reading about the specifics, Patsie, if only just to see what they say.

And since we're talking about fish oil..does anyone know of a good fish oil pill that is not the size of a small fist? With my GERD issues, swallowing gigantic pills is really tough, but I haven't been able to find a smaller more manageable fish oil pill.

I use a liquid. It's lightly lemon flavored, and can be mixed into juice. I bought it at Vitamin Shoppe...
