Hey all,

Question....  I was on my way to work this morning and noticed my chest was getting tight and sore, I've had this before a while back.   I haven't been sick recently and other than my shoulder, arm and the back of my knee are the only other things that REALLY hurt.  I am achy, as always.  But, I just have this urge to cough, dry, nothing comes of it.  It feels like I have pressure on my chest as well, makes me want to cough.

Does anyone feel this way? confused

Have you been checked for asthma?  My main symptoms are chest tightness and a dry cough.  It comes on out of the blue sometimes with just the tightness and an urge to cough.

I sometimes have tightening in my chest as well. It feels like it's right on my sternum.

Lori I had this same thing yesterday and it is scary. It felt like something was keeping me from taking a deep breath. I called DH to see where he was cause I tend to panic and he was out of town at the time. I took a half of xanax and it went away after a little while so I don't know what it was. I have been having a lot of stomach issues and had been bending over a lot which tends to make me nauseous for some reason so I don't know if it had anything to do with GERD even though I have had surgery for it or what. I do not have asthma but who knows as much as I smoke. It could have just been anxiety for me. I know I didn't like the feeling at all. I did relax a lot more when I knew DH was back in town and not far away. I'm going to have a scope done on my stomach but I will bring that up to my doc.

Hope it doesn't happen again for any of us.

I am agree with austenfan it could be asthma. I use to tell people when my chest would become tight it feels like an elephant sitting on it.
When you cough is the sound of it high pitched? Do you sneeze alot?

Stari .... No and No. I

think Marlee might be on to something. Throughout the day I have been burping and my throat has been feeling tight. While I eat and drink my water, it hurts a little on the way down. I had some "Extra" stress last night after work. My stepson should just move out, ain't gonna happen, only 17yrs old. And, my brother called just to me out for not telling him something that I might of, I can't remember, long story.

Maybe after I take a good rest on my lunch hour it might calm down.

Thanx everyone! :-) I hope we all have calm, quiet evenings today!

I get this tight feeling with my GERD sometimes, too. In fact, I think if you look it up you can info on how GERD can sometimes mimic asthma..has something to do with the stomach acid irritating the breathing passages..or something like that. GERD sucks!

I ended up in the ER for that on Monday. I couldn't breathe and my chest hurt. I passed out a bit later, and my fiance took me to the ER. They did a chest xray, checked for blood clots, did an EKG, etc. They found nothing. They then gave me some albuterol, and that took it away and I magically felt better. Went to my doctor today, he thinks it could be asthma or something of the sort, and put me on advair. We'll see what happens!

Asthma! duh..... my  brain is not working.. It's only due to lack of sleep and stress. Last night I didn't sleep at all and I kept ripping my C-Pap mask off every 30 minutes. I totally forgot about that! Um No I didn't. I had that fight with my doctor. He said my lungs were clear and I said, "It might not be my lungs but there is something in my chest that hurts and I can't breath." it took 2 office visits to convince the doctor.

I had my son take a little off of one of my inhalers today to calm his cough. He said it helped a little and he could breath better. So I think he's going to have Asthma just like me.
