I haven't been diagnosed per se. I've been dealing with pain for so long now...I have Crohns and was diagnosed Feb. 08. Now, the pain never went away from that. It just changed and spread. My doctor put me on Lyrica a couple of weeks ago and the pain is just about greatly reduced. So, thoughts on this? Anyone else taking it?
27/f/CD. 4 CD related surgeries: 2 resections, 2 JP drains, 3 NG tubes, many absesses (including the one my most recent surgery scraped off my ovary) and fistulas.
Currently trying to figure out hip and knee joint pain.
Have lost in these surgeries: appendix, 8 in. intestine, R fallopian tube, gallbladder, 10 in. intestine
Crohns Dx'd: February 2008.
Pentasa (and much mental screaming)

Trying to hang in there until January so I'll have some insurance and can visit a rheumy, neuro, GI, primary, pain control, and possibly a shrink so I could stop crying and living in my own lil pity party. :-P

Welcome Joie. I am glad the Lyrica is working for you. I've heard that it works on nerve pain, even though it is an anti seizure medicine. I do not take it. It does not seem to work for everyone.

Hi Joie and welcome to the family. Don't worry we have several members who have not gotten an official dx but have all the symptoms. I'm sorry you have crohns too. I have not tried Lyrica but it seems people either love it or hate it so I'm glad it is working for you.

There is a lot of accumulative knowledge on this forum so read and ask questions and we will help you. Yes, we even vent when it all becomes too much for us to handle. Read the fibro 101 thread, second on first page, it contains lots of great info.

I hope you get insurance soon.

luv and hugs
Marlee

Welcome to the forum Joie! I am still fairly new to this forum myself, but I have found it and all the people so wonderful!

I personally am on lyrica. I think it helps some, but it hasn't made a huge difference. I've had no problems with it though. I'm glad its working so well for you!

Again, welcome!

Hi Joie,

I'm new also(2 weeks).  I take Lyrica, 3 a day.  It made a huge difference for me.  I have been taking it for about 5 yrs.  I would like to try and get off it though, because it is $450 a month. smhair    Good luck to you!

Hi, Joie, and welcome!  I, too, have Crohn's disease but it is in remission now.  Were you given the Lyrica for the Crohn's or for the muscle pain.  Just curious.

I see you have been directed to the Fibro 101 thread.  Also, read back posts and ask questions.  We are here to help you.

I'm so glad that you found us and joined in.  We have wonderful members that love to help one another and, as a bonus, we really do care about each other, too!  I'm sure you will like it here.

I'm happy you are here and hope to hear more from you soon.

Well, here's some background on it. Basically got diagnosed with the Crohns Feb. '08. After I recovered from the surgery of that month, I kept waiting to feel better. I never did. Over the fall and winter, I hurt pretty much constantly. Sometimes aches that are so intense I'd wanna scream. Joint pain. Of course lower back pain associated with spasms from the Crohns. I've been tired as ever too. I only work 12-16 hours a week and that feels like waaaaaaaaaaay too much on occasion. Still, pain in the hips, the knees, the upper back. Its been driving me crazy. Occasionally, I'll be on my hands and knees...or try too and it feels like someone drove a nail into my nerves through my palms...and then my elbows fold and I end up face down. I will say that the Lyrica isn't perfect. The past few days were especially hard on my body I think. We're having a heat wave here in the midwest. I still have to take pain meds to function through the day as well but I'm hoping it will all lead to a positive direction.
