I saw my GP on Friday, he squeezed me in b/c I wanted to be able to visit Dad in Nursing Home and I had a horrible cough, way down deep, shortness of breath, wheezing and couldn't breath through my nose, most uncomfortable. He prescribed erythromycin which he says is good for sinus, lungs etc. infections. I started on it Friday night. Sat. I felt a little lite headed and whoozy, same Sunday. Sunday late in afternoon I became deathly ill. Nausea and stomach cramps, really, really bad stomach cramps. Didn't sleep Sunday nite. At 6AM Monday I went to local emerg. They had me wait 4 hours, then I saw a doc for all of two minutes, I showed him the erythromycin, he said it will cause stomach and intestinal upset, so he sent a nurse in to give me two shots in the butt, someone else took blood and urine, I tried to get them a stool sample (sorry for the descriptive language folks, but I'm really, ill), couldn't get the sample, so I was told to go sit in the waiting room, and wait, again. I waited another hour, could not hold my head up, any longer, couldn't stand noise, heat, smell, people, etc. so I left, not knowing what the heck is wrong with me. Now I've suffered trough another restless, miserable night. I am supposed to be moving house and I cannot move my self. Not one bit. My comforts all went down to new place so here I am in hot stuffy older place, w/o a decent bed. Woe, Woe, Woe, is me. Has anyone had this intestinal bug with the sinus and lung involvement, the stomach cramps, really nasty? What is it. Of course with the swine flu everywhere, is this it?, or just a common flu?, or is it the erythromycin. Anybody.

Tyno you really need to get in and see your doc today no matter what is causing it.
I hope they find out what is wrong and get you back on the road to recovery.

Tyno, when I worked in the hospital I saw a lot of people have GI issues while being on erythromycin, even big burly men. I also know from personal experience that it can be tough. I was taking it for a sinus infection also. I would definitely call your GP to discuss it with him. A different anti-biotic may be in order since they can't help if you can't keep them down. A sinus infection is not something to just let go untreated. Hope you are feeling better very soon. Lisa

Here is some info on erythromycin.  If you are having diarrhea, you need to see your doctor.  Actually, I think you do need to see them anyway and find out what is going on with  you.  It could be the flu or a combination of other things.
