I have severe tendonitis in my right elbow (Golfer's Elbow).  I have been in pain for about 6 months.  Had 4 cortisone shots and can't have anymore because they are breaking down the tissue in my arm.  :(  I had an MRI done, and the only thing that the doctors can say is that I need to try therapy.    I am so used to the pain now, I can't imagine my arm being pain-free.  I'm scared that the therapy is going to be terribly painful.  I'm wondering if anyone else has done this therapy, and what it is like.  Thank you!

Go for the therapy. You need to keep the elbow moving. I know that it hurts but eventually, the pain will lessen and you will have more range of motion.

Hi Donnie's Girl!

Haven't seen you in a while...good to hear from you. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with your elbow. Must be very frustrating tho. I would also give therapy a try. From my experience they aren't going to push you into something that is very painful because that would likely mean something is very wrong. If it were that painful I would report back to my doc and ask about the therapist and what's going on. It may be uncomfortable and some soreness would likely linger a while but excruciating pain should not be part of it. The idea is to lessen the pain.

Keep us posted!

Definitely go for the therapy I have tendinitis in virtually ever joint and you have to keep it moving or it WILL get much worse. Good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hi everyone...thank you for your replies.  I have my first therapy session scheduled for this Tuesday.  I will definitely go.  Thank you so much for the encouragement.  I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi, I have problems with my elbows too (pinched nerves). For the longest time I ignored it thinking it was a FM trigger point. Not good.
Ive had therapy on my arms before for carpal tunnel. It isnt that bad--not like PT on your legs or neck, that hurts! They did stretches with rubber bands, squeezing balls things like that. The best part was the heat wraps and nicey things they did afterward.
Remember if they are pushing you too hard, tell them it hurts too much. And you always have the right to switch therapists or clinics!

Thanks again for the replies. I went to my fist therapy session, and the therapist showed me stretches to do and did ultrasond therapy on my arm. (No heat darn it...that's what feels good! :) ) I've been doing the execises he gave me, so I'm trying to be optimistic. He didn't really give me a straight answer when I asked if it will go away. :(
