For the past few days my back has hurt from my neck to my butt.  While I still have pain in other areas the worse pain is in the back.
?  Any way I can refocus the back pain to another area of my body?  I hate it when my butt hurts!

You can smack your leg with a baseball bat.  That should do it!  devil

If we had the ability to do that we could push the pain right out of our bodies Stari. However distraction does help sometimes if we get involved with something that takes our minds off our pain, in your case I wouldn't do anything where you have to sit for a long time. Have you tried stretching and heat??? Sometimes stretching hurts so good.

Hope you get better quickly.

Toooooooooooooooo late sherrie instead of hitting my leg with a bat I pulled an engrown toe nail ouch.............wow my back feels so much better.

Think about it if you could channel the pain where would you channel it from and to in the body.

Stari, that reminds me of a skit a friend used to do: Anvil for pain. Someone would come on stage and complain of a headache and someone else would come in and drop an anvil on her foot to get her to stop thinking of the headache!
Hope your butt feels better soon!

Hi Stari...I often have the hubby whack me over the head with a lead pipe as hard as he can so that the pain I have daily in my butt is shifted.  This has many advantages as I am usually in a coma for a few days and get plenty of sleep.  Plus it is good for weight loss. devil

Seriously, I have the butt  pain all the time.  It goes down the side of my thigh into my knee.  It bites.

Stari, several years ago my back was hurting so DH was going to pop it and make it feel better and broke many ribs doing so but it took my mind off the back pain for a few weeks. You want me to send him to your house??? devil

Shopping does help. Especially online shopping (no crowds, no bright lights, no excessive heat or air conditioning)

Also, when everything is hurting, you can always count on chocolate to soothe the soul.

In all seriousness, I am very curious to hear what your Dr. has to say, too, Sue..I get terrible tailbone pain especially when I sit in a non-soft chair for any length of time.

There was actually an episod of "House" where he used a paperweight (or something) and broke his hand to take his mind off the pain in his leg (not that I recommend this, of course). turn

Have you tried sitting on those donut pillows that take the pressure off of your tailbone?

Or have you tried having someone massage your back, hip, and rear-end?  Sometimes these muscles get in such a spasm for me (from the neck down to my leg) that the only thing that helps is massaging the knots out.  Everyone in my family has been asked at one time or another to massage my rear-end.  I got over the embarrassment a long time ago.  smilewinkgrin rolleyes

Hope you feel better soon.
