any of your senses becoming stronger.( Not words I was wanting to write but lost train of thoughts.)

I have noticed that some days my sense of smell is outrages. Mitch and I will be driving and I can smell when an animal has been killed and left for dead and not even see the animal. Mitch of course doesn't smell it.  Litter boxes drive me crazy cause I can really smell them.

Sometimes my sense of feel is also out there. Like everyone talks about the crawling feelings and nothings there. I sometimes think maybe there's just bugs we can't see touching us. I can feel a tiny tick crawling on me. I have even been waken in my sleep with one crawling on my neck. Thank goodness I feel those.

But then again my eye sight is slowly going away. I used to not be able to see far away and there are days I hae no problem seeing far away but can't see something up close and personal.

Absolutely.  I had a shirt on the other day and kept smelling flowers wherever I went. The hubby didn't smell it.  It turns out it was from the fabric softener sheet I had put in the dryer.  I can smell, from inside my house, the gasoline my neighbor is pouring into his lawn mower.  We passed a truck that had blown a tire on the thru way last week and I smelled that burning rubber for a half hour after we had passed the truck.

I am forevr asking the hubby 'don't you smelll that?"  He never ever does.

I have the ant crawling on my legs also.  Have stripped my pants off between two school buses in a parking lot because I was sure bugs were all over me.

Over sensitive...that what we are!

Same hear. Every sense but my hearing is more acute. At times my hearing works well with those high frequency noises, they are annoying.

I feel bugs and cats go past me. I even feel people sitting on my thermapedic mattress. You know the kind that lets people have a glass of wine on the bed while children jump on it?

My home never smells good enough for me and I hate artificial scents.

I haven't been able to use perfume in years. My sense of smell is so acute that I use laundry detergent and fabric softeners without perfumes and dyes. I also use apple cider vinager in my rinse cycle which takes out any remaining soap from the clothes and makes them look like new.
My hearing is going too as I have an arthritis condition of the inner ear which leads to hearing loss. The bones fuse together.....fun, fun, fun. I live in the country and loud noises bug me . I don't know how people can live in a city with the constant overwhelming of the senses.

Oh yes the smells.  I hate perfume.  Hold my breath walking through that dept. in a store.  Almost run from those free sample girls.  On good days when I ride my bike through the subdivision I can smell who is using a fabric softener sheet in their dryer because of the smells coming from the vents.  I can't use anything scented.  I hate when neighbors use charcoal starters in their bbq gills=major headache.

I also have the little ants or caterpillars crawling on me.  Right now one has been living on my left shoulder for weeks.

Because my vision is so bad I'm always killing spiders or crickets on the floor just to find out later it was a fuzzy or clump of dog hair.

I love the smell though of bleach when I wash white clothes. If certain smells are far enough away i'm okay such as carcoal. I still love to a point wood burning.

And yes the noise, today I had to walk away and come into my bedroom which is conected to the livingroom to get away from one of the older children, luckly that was all I had today because noise was really getting to me. My son had burned me a Wiccan CD and I came in hear and just listened to it. It is very calming to me it reminds me more of Indain music than anything.

Sat. I am having a Parent's Appercation Day and am thinking that since I am stressing over it that I'm headed for a flare because I'm already getting pain coming from nowhere but attack most of my body alittle at one moment and then all at once. I told one of my daycare kids who is 10 that by Monday I may be using a cane, something I have not had to use as of yet but I know my body is already hurting.

Besides the ever-present pain and fatigue of this months-long flare, I am most disturbed by heightened senses. I cannot even walk through the fabric soap aisle because of the smells of bleach, fabric sheets, soap - I can even smell beauty products that are wrapped and sealed. (Of course, I can smell the candy aisle too!! I always walk thru the candy aisle if I have to go thru the cleaning aisle, as my little reward.) Just today I was asking a friend of mine who is sensitive to smell if she has noticed new/ recent bad smells on the garments while clothes shopping. I swear, the past few times I have been in a clothing store, all I smell are chemicals on the clothes to the point of nausea. Has manufacturing changed that greatly? I hear all kinds of stuff about toxic things in our lives we don't know about, but I can't recall smelling stuff like petroleum products on clothing before. When I worked at the airport I used to love the smell of jet fuel, for pete's sake. Now I can't even fill up my car without turning green.

And I yelled at my boyfriend just tonight for putting on aftershave after his shower. He says he forgets that I get migraines from his Axe, but I secretly think he keeps hoping I will "change back" even tho I tell him he smells like a stud without it. And noise? I used to go to concerts several times a week - loved the crowds, people-watching, all that. And now I can't even listen to a loud video on YouTube or I get heart palpitating anxiety and my fight-or-flight response is triggered. Happened not 20 minutes ago. On top of all that my skin has been extra creepy-crawly today.

We are a weird lot. smilewinkgrin Roni, I can't stand the smell of bleach and rarely use it. There are some odors that I hate and some that I enjoy. I use lavender fabric softner on our sheets and love it. I love to smell my DH after he has showered with Zest, we use different brands, I use Dove. I love to smell my grandson, babies smell so good sometimes and other times not so good.

I avoid the candle section in Walmart, the automotive section, the garden section (can't take the pesticides and stuff) and all the stuff that is suppose to make your home smell good.

I'm going to have my DIL clean my oven while we are on vacation cause I can't stand to turn it on self clean and it hasn't been cleaned in four years. Not that it has been used that much.

My smeller, my hearing and touch have become more sensitive but the eyes are going. I took the puppies out to play last night after DH had mowed and came in feeling like there were bugs all over me but I didn't see not one.

luv and hugs

Hey guys,

I've only posted a couple of times-none since I got my official diagnosis this month.  So, hi, I'm Julie!  I come on just about every day though and read the posts.

I had to reply to this.  I'm like Marlee-some smells I really love, and others I can't stand.  But the absolute worst thing is when I give a man a hug and his cologne decides it wants to "stick" with me.  My husband's great uncle is one of the sweetest men on the planet, but this happens every time I hug him, and it's almost always at the beginning of some occasion where I'm stuck smelling it for a couple of hours.  I'm getting sick to my stomache just thinking about it!  It will happen will women's perfume sometimes, too.

I'll start a thread some time soon and tell ya'll about myself.

Julie

This is so true! It must have something to do with our heightened sensitivity to everything. Smells drive me crazy and noise - what is it in Wal-Mart, the lights or the security system I can't stand it!

A couple months ago there was a horrible smell in my bathroom that no one else in my family could smell. I traced it to the vent on the floor (by crawling on my hands and knees, sniffing, getting lightheaded and almost passing out! LOL). I pulled the vent cover off and went so far as to pull the vent away from the floor and nothing. I finally went under the house and there was a dead mouse on the ground NEAR the vent. My kitty doing his job I guess! :)

Welcome Julie!
