Hey yall, been gone for a while and I've missed you all. I was on Savella which was a new fibro med, but when I hit the 25mg things started to go down hill, dizziness, vision problems, 'brain zaps' headaches and when I talked to my dr he told me to stop taking it immediately and go to the ER, that strokes were a side effect and he thought I was having one! Fortunately, I wasn't having a stroke, but had I continued on taking it I most likely would have had one. The last wk I've been going through withdrawals, poor hubby called me Sybil a few times because of it.
Anyways, if your meds are giving you severe side effects or are just plain scary talk to your dr, he needs to know and it could be something bigger and worse. And it's not like there aren't millions of drugs out there one of them has to do something with as little side effects as possible. smilewinkgrin

Lola, thank goodness it wasn't any worse than it was for you. How frightening! I have never been on Savella, but I had 2 different drs give me Lyrica, not good. My former pcp got so annoyed w/ me when I stopped it the 2nd time. I told her the reactions I was getting, she accused me of not giving it enough time. It was nasty. If there is a reaction to get w/ some meds, I get it, then it's like I'm being difficult. mad

Most importantly, you are alright. Hope they can find something that will help you.

God bless.  Alice.

So sorry, Lola.  I know how scary side effects from these new wonder drugs can be.  When I see the commercials on t.v. for depression/anxiety/fibro I shiver.  'Seizures, explosive diarrhea/ heart attack, stroke, seizures, suicidal thoughts'...I know they are  probably rare but I just put up with this stupid disease on the least amount of drugs I can and just plod through it.  The Lexapro I am on is bad enough.

So glad you were not having a stroke.  Feel better.

I had to call my doctor today and tell him I wanted off of the savella. It was giving me anxiety and I found myself verbally attacking people which is not like me. He put me back on my old depression medicine.

Lola, how frightening!  I'm so glad you contacted your doctor and you got checked out.  I'm glad that you are fine.  Thank  you so much for letting us know about this.  We've had several post about Savella and no one knew much about it.  You have given good advice!  Thanks!

For more info on Savella, http://savella.com/ even after what happened to me, I would still suggest trying it, but I think ppl should be able to make an informed choice about doing so.
And it may not affect someone else the way it affected me.

I haven't heard of savella or lyrica meds, but will look into it.

All meds have bad side effects that may not effect one now, but 10-20yrs later. I didn’t take med’s for a long time, then had to give in b/c of the pain. I don’t like it. The worst med’s are lithium and valporic acid. Diarrhea everyday, confusion, getting lost, headaches etc. I went to ER for the side effects and got off those med’s.

How scary Lola. I've had so many bad reactions to meds I now have a med phobia. I know some of these meds are a godsend to some and poison to others. If I can remember right Savella can cause high BP and that is the last thing I need, mine is high enough already.

They have a class action suit against reglan, it can cause some kind of tremors, I've been on it for the past several years for my stomach. I try to take as little as possible and will talk to my doc about it.

luv and hugs
