Hello everyone, I just wanted to more or less introduce myself.  I have been kind of reading on this forum for a couple months, but haven't posted a topic.  I have been diagnosed with fibromyagia within the last couple months by my primary doc; but he's sending me to a rheumy this month to confirm-so in reality I guess I haven't been completely diagnosed yet.  Although, everytime I read a topic on here I can relate so I guess I believe the dx.  I have most of the same symptoms as everyone else on here....have very few good days, and even on those good days I am very limited.  My muscles just have no endurance at all whatsoever.  I can't wipe down the table, carry a bag, wash out a pan, etc...without feeling like my arms turn into rubber and I start aching for hours.  I get all the joint aches, knees being the worse, then shoulders, elbows, wrists, etc.  My body has been put through the wringer lately, every test known to be run has been ran.....aside from my above symptoms I also have daily headaches, blurred vision, raynaud's in my fingers/toes, constant neck aches which could be from the migraines and/or the cervical disc disease they say I have, GERD, sleep apnea.....the list goes on... my history consists of 2 miscarriages, placenta abruption, uterine ablation, cryosurgery 3 times for pre cancer cells (cervical, & skin) multiple allergic reactions, the list goes on & on....my question is- my parents told me I was born sickly running a fever of 103-104 continuously for the first year I was born; my mother would take me to the dr. as soon as it would spike up, they'd give me medication and run labs then send me home until I ran out of the antibiotics then the fever would spike again....it was an ongoing circle.  The dr's never could find out what was wrong-never a dx; except they found out I was deathly ill to penicillin at that time.  My parents also said I was constantly coming down with bronchitis, pneumonia, and strep infections as a child.  I'm wondering if this could all somehow be related?  Just curious if anyone on these forums would have any insight?  I mentioned it to my primary at my last visit.....he said he was sending the info to the rheumy for my appt in a few weeks.  Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hi Cydful, welcome. This really is a helpful and welcoming forum. I am fairly recently diagnosed, and am tryiing to figure out/reason if my fibro was caused by something in the past few years, or if I may have had it longer than I have thought. Anyway, you and I have similar backgrounds. I ended up having a hysterectomy after intense fibroids and hemorrhaging; I also have history of migraines, raynauds, strep, bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy... it goes on and on! My arms and neck are exactly the same as yours are right now. Today is especially bad so I'm up late.

Hi Cydful and welcome. There are some on here that have had fibro for as long as they can remember. Who knows why??? So many have gotten fibro after a traumatic event in their lives and you have had your share.

Since you have been reading for quite awhile you have probably already read the fibro 101 thead. I'm glad you posted. We will be here for you.

Hi, Cydful, and welcome!  I wish we really knew what causes fibro.  We have a list as long as are arm of reasons why we think we developed fibro but no one knows for sure.  My first child was similar to you.  She was sick a lot during her first year and seemed to pick up anything that came down the pike.  I even had her gamma globulin checked to make sure her immune system was working correctly.  She outgrew this and is now a healthy 35 year old woman with no fibromyalgia...thak God!

I'm so glad you found us and joined in!  I do hope you read the Fibro 101 thread...the first thread on the forum.  It is packed with good information about fibro and you know that knowledge is power!  Meanwhile, don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you.  I hope to hear more from you soon.

Thank you all for your replies and feedback. Fibro is such a mysterious disease that I am always looking for more & more info....something that everyone may have in common and not realize. It just seems to me that there must be some type of rhyme or reasoning; but I'm learning quickly that some things do just work in mysterious ways. This is one disease that can't be denied if you do have it; I tried for several years to ignore all the symptoms until it just became unbearable and I had no choice but to accept there was something going on. Good luck to all of you & all of us.....I will help on this forum if I have something to offer. Thank you!
