I'm having a recheck this afternoon after several weeks of aqua therapy. To be honest, I haven't noticed any change in my symptoms since going to this therapy. I feel it is a waste of money at this point. I guess I don't know what to say to the therapist today. I feel like a failure, as this was supposed to help me.

Does exercise really help us? How long does it take to "kick in"?

Guess I'll know more after my recheck today - but this whole thing is really bothering me. shakehead

I find that light exercise helps me. Not so much with the pain, but it helps me clear the fog. I take a short walk daily(around 30mins). Don't feel as if you have failed. Each of us must find our own way to deal with our issues. Maybe Water Therapy isn't the way for you. I hope you find something that helps soon. Stay strong you can do it.

Oh My...I thought this post was entitled "redneck aqua therapy"  So I guess it's safe to say it probably wouldn't help me much!  Plus at 63 years old you couldn't pay me to get into a bathsuit in front of other people...Yet...now that I think about it I might scare the pain out of them!

Vesta..I'm 59 and the rheumy wants me to do aqua therapy also. I feel just like you do but then I think heck..most likely it's just going to be me and a bunch of others that look just like me lol. So Im going to look into it.

He also told me and my family doctor this "Physicl conditioning including aerobic forms of exercise and optimizing appropriate body mass index is strongly encouraged, though in my experience physical therapy has limited long term clinical benefit and should be considered on a case by case basis." So there ya go ..

I bet simple water exercise and water aerobics would do the same thing but be less expensive.  I do feel better when I swim.

Well, the therapist wants me to continue. He said my range of motion is a bit better. I have 2 more weeks scheduled.
