The night before last night, I slept in my bed for the first time in over a week. I woke up, and my hip was screaming! Then I took a nap later that day. Normally, I feel better when I take a nap, but I woke up feeling worse. I slept in bed last night, and I woke up today with my hip screaming worse than yesterday. I just don't know what to do about it. I feel horrible. I can hardly walk! What should I do??

Hey sassy...my hip, butt, leg and knee having been aching for months.  It keeps me up all night.  I have just started doing some simple exercises to see if that will help.  I think it's some kind of sciatica thing.  These kinds of pain seem to be typical with fibro. Hope you feel better...

Hip pain kept waking me last night, too.  It's usually my right hip but last night it was both hips and I just couldn't get comfortable.  I have to sleep on my sides because of back problems and a hernia.  Not fun but it does get better.  I'm thankful for that!

I'm going to have to jump in this boat too.  My right side from my waist down to my big toe has been in intense pain all day.  I've been battling sacroiliitis (I'm sure you all have heard me whining about it) for months, and my hips hurt ALL THE TIME.  Today, my entire leg and foot have decided to join in.  mad

I hope we all feel better soon.

P.S.  I don't think any of us have answered your question, "What should I do?"  I guess we just really don't know.  I've been doing heat all day without much success.  I recently bought a home ultrasound machine which I'm going to try here in a little bit, so I'll let you know if that helps.  Hang in there.  We'll all hang in with you.  :-)

Hey there lil' Miss Sassy, :-)

I hope you are feeling a little better by now. I use to get cortisone injections in my hips every 3 months about a 2 yrs ago. I only did it 3 x's and it made a difference. I haven't had that bad pain since. They do ache awful sometimes, but that pain of just standing/sitting/walking/laying down every single minute of everyday is gone.

Use your heating pad and do some very Light stretching. Keep up with your doc on how you feel, maybe you both can come up with better pain relief.

In the meantime, {{{HUGS}}}

Hi! Hoping you are pain free soon:)

When my hips are hurting, I love to soak in a hot bath. The tricky part is getting in and out.
I then put on something super comfy, take a muscle relaxer(Flexeril) and use a heating pad.
I'll read or watch tv to take my mind off the achiness. This seems to take the edge off.

Don't know if you take muscle relaxers. I take them only as needed but they sure seem
to help me.

My hip pain is the reason that I use a power wheelchair outside of my home. I do take muscle relaxants but mainly at bedtime because they make me too drowsy during the day.

I swim and do aquatic exercises and they help but it is still too painful to walk regularly.

I do not have arthritis, only fibro. I really do not what to do for this other than exercise, heat and rest.

Well, I feel a little bit better. I took a hot bath and put a lidoderm patch on my hip, and it seems to help significantly. I am going to sleep on the couch tonight to see if my bed is the problem. I hate having to sleep on the couch. I much prefer sleeping next to my husband. But, I can't continue waking up with so much pain that I can hardly walk. So, I guess tonight I will see if my bed is the issue. I have known for a while now that our mattress is horrible, but I have never had hip pain like this from sleeping on it before. So, I don't know. I really do hate not being able to sleep next to my husband. I really wish I could get the spare bed from my grandma's house, but she is giving it to my cousin. I wish that she could get ours, her dad could still get hers, and my grandma could get my uncle's. This way, my husband and I could have to bed from my grandma's. Even though it is only a full, it is insanely comfortable. I am absolutely in love with that mattress. Oh well. *sighs* Anyways. At least for now, the patch is helping.

Oh! BTW, I am typing this on my new laptop. I got it from my brother-in-law. It is totally awesome. I am so beyond happy to have it. I have been wanting one for a long time. My hubby got it from him for a great deal. He simply spoils me rotten. I love him to pieces.
