I had mentioned the other day that my heart rate has increased on savella and I lowered the dosage back to 75mg. Well today my heart rate will not go below 115. If I move at all it is 125 - 130! I called my pharmacist and I think I am just going to stop taking it and go back to my lexapro. I asked about tapering and he said I needed to weigh the possibility of a stroke against an increase in withdrawal symptoms! Don't

I am going to call my dr on monday. Add another medicine I can't tolerate to the long list! confused

upbeat, so sorry the savella is affecting your heart rate. Hoping you find something that
works well for you.

Since I been on Savella, my diastolic pressure has gone up. It is between 82-95. My heart
rate between 90-116. I monitor it daily. I've been taking 50mg 2x daily.

It is frustrating to start and stop meds. I have a mini pharmacy of meds I can no longer
take.

Robin - how much has your heart rate increased since starting savella? Am I remembering correctly that you had a high heart rate to begin with? Thanks and I know what you mean about the mini pharmacy!

Hey upeat you remembered correctly. My resting heartbeat has always been on the
high side. I guess it hasn't really changed. My concern is my diastolic rate. That has gone
up 10-15 points. I do take blood pressure meds, and I'll call my doc if my rate gets any
higher. I'm hoping the savella is my new miracle cure, so far nothing!!!

Good luck

Robin, thank you for thinking about me! I have not had a dose since yesterday morning and I feel pretty bad. My head has that weird spinning, kind of dizzy feeling, but my heart rate is back down in the 80's.  I was looking up the half-life of savella and found an interesting article

I didn't realize the half-life on savella was so short only 6 - 8 hours. I guess that is why "discontinuation" or withdrawal symptoms come on so fast. I also found a list of half lives of different AD's.

Effexor           3-13 hours
Celexa           36 hours
Lexapro        27-32 hours
Prozac           84-144 hours
Paxil              21 hours
Paxil CR         15-20 hours
Zoloft             26 hours
Wellbutrin      12-30 hours
Cymbalta        11-16 hours

If I feel worse I may try to 12.5 mg today and see if it helps. I can talk to my dr tomorrow about restarting lexapro.

Thanks again - hope your blood pressure is staying down!

upbeat,

Sorry you are having withdrawal symptoms. I hope they pass quickly.

Thanks for sharing the great info. I just learned I will have to really limit my use of
muscle relaxants if I continue to use savella or I could be a canidate for serotonin syndrome.

Robin - the pharmacists seem to have a good idea how much of each drug you can take. I was on Ultracet, Lexapro and Amrix (ER Flexeril) and I questioned my dr and my pharmacist about it. Always smart to be aware and careful.

Merrygirl - I am so glad you are not having side effects - hopefully the pain relief is coming! I lasted 19 days and I think it did give me more energy, but no pain relief that I could tell. Except of course today without it I hurt like crazy - feel like I ran a marathon last night in my sleep!

I have seen reoprts that say you will not know the full benefit for a month and until you try it up to 200mg if you have no relief at 100mg. I have also read that some pain reduction should be felt after one week if it is going to work.

Wish I could help more!

Kerri - I missed your post Sat - thank you for the prayers! :)
