Yes, I've had both pain and swelling of my lymph nodes...not sure yet what the deal is there.  I hope you can find some help for your daughter here...keep in touch!

hello everyone,
My name is Tom, I am 33 yrs old and I am new to this forum. I have been diagnosed with fibro about 1 and half ago - 2 years ago. I would not wish this on anyone. I use to enjoy the outdoors, camping, fishing, walking, riding bikes, dirt bikes, I was pretty active. I did construction most of my life and did some cooking at dif places as well. Well I havent worked since Sept of 2009 because of my condition. I even went back to school online to try to change career paths and I am in my last term of my associates in IT and I am having such a hard time. Not just this term, but for the last 2 terms also. It is so hard to sit down for more than 10 minutes without being in a ton of pain. it feels like there is a 500 lbs bag on back and shoulders. I have takin so many dif meds and nothing has worked. I was getting some relief when I went to the pain clinic but the stopped perscribing me percs because i was not taking them everyday, i was only taking them when I couldnt take it no more and my dr got made that they were not in my system. Sorry I dont like pills. so he wont give me nothing, ny pcp is just trying to give me muscle relaxers( dont do a darn thing), and now I am goin to try Lyrica. I was really questioning taking it, but I am at the point where i have no choice. I and just about every symptom on that list, and it does answer a lot of questions I had about why I was feeling some ways that I do. After reading that list more things start to make sense. I get no sleep, hurt 24/7, lost weight, always tired, cant remember anything anymore. I had alot more I wanted to say but darn fibro-fog hits me hard.

Hi Tom, and welcome!  Since you're new, you should start a new thread to introduce yourself--more people will see it there, and you should get more responses.

It sounds like you are having a really hard time.  My fibro is not pleasant, but it doesn't seem as bad as some folks on here deal with, including you.  My heart goes out to everyone who suffers from this!

You mentioned that you don't like to take pills, and neither do I.  Some people do get by with just "natural" remedies, and there are lots of ideas and recommendations on these boards.

I've only been dealing with fibro for about five months, but many people here have had it for much, much longer, and know more about it than I do, so I'm sure you can get some good suggestions.  Best of luck to you, and as I said, if you'll start a new thread to introduce yourself, you should get more responses.

I am new to the site. I found it when trying to find out what is going on with my health. I do not know if I have Fibromyalgia, but I do have at least half of the symptoms on the list. I was wondering if that is normal with Fibro or not? I live near Charlotte, NC. If anyone on here lives in the area, would you please let me know if there is a good Dr. that you could recommend.

Hi Ladym,

Welcome to the fibromyalgia forum. I am not from your area so I can't help you there. Maybe if you look on the internet, you will find some answers. I would make sure that the doctor that you do see believes in fibromyalgia and works with it. Maybe a pain clinic would be the way to go. A lot of people here go to rheumies. I don't though. My doctor is a do.

There is a thread called "fibro101". It is the second thread on the forum. I think it would benefit you to check it out. It has a world of information on it. I think you will find some ideas there.

Do you have a lot of pain and fatigue? Let us know some of your symptoms.

I hope that you feel better soon.

Hugs, Karen

PS If you feel comfortable with it, please feel free to start an introductory thread for yourself. Tagging on another thread doesn't always get noticed. You would probably get a lot more responses that way...

Thank you Karen for your reply, I ruptured a disc in my cervical spine in 1993 and had to have it fused. In 2008, I had an injury to my neck and shoulder. MRI showed advanced DDD, bone spurs. Since then I have had pain in my neck, collar, shoulder and started getting really bad headaches. about 2 years ago, the pain started to be in different areas of my body, but not all at the same time. Sometimes they are shooting, sometimes stabbing, sometimes burning. I have times when there is a large area that feels like it's bruised, but it doesn't hurt to a light touch like some people explain, although I have a high tolerance for pain. I find it hard to stay focused at times, I don't sleep well (tired all the time, but not getting more then 4-5 hours a sleep a night would be a problem for a lot of people), ringing in my ears ( more like crickets), heartburn, twitching in random muscles, night sweats, (I wake up, burning up and moments later I'm cold, that just my be age related..LOL). I don't know, maybe I'm just crazy, if a Dr. told me I was crazy I would feel a lot better, at least I would have a diagnosis. I am just so frustrated with Drs. right now, no one seems to want to listen to all my symptoms, they just want to do injections in my neck and I don't think that will solve the problems.

That's enough rambling,
Thanks for listening,

Margaret

It does seem that many pain clinics want to do injections. I don't blame you for not wanting them. My husband has lls and I believe ddd. He has a lot of problems with his back. The most of my pain is in my neck and shoulders. Though I have a hip that aches every morning and gets me up early. That could be arthritis though or sciatica.

I am sorry that you have so much going on and need a dx. I hope that you find a doctor that bellieves and helps you. Don't give up. I would start by calling doctors in your area and find out if they do in fact believe and treat fibromyalgia and your issues with your back. You do need attention. Please don't give up.

Take care, keep posting Margaret...

Hugs...

Well according to your list I have fibromyalgia and probably have had it for a very long time undiagnosed. I have had these symptoms since I was a teenager.. I am now 40 years old and people just told me I was lazy or fobbed me off with things.. no doctor took me seriously.
