idea I was just diagnosed with Fibro, and I don;t think that I have it. I was on Lexapro for 4 years, and felt fine. Then I was told by my doctor that I have to get off of it due to some complications that it was causeing me.  So shortly after tapering off i was fine for a while, then a month ago I endd up in the ER due to shortness of breath, and chest pain and slow heart rate. Well they sent me home saying that nothing seemed wrong.  So this last month has not been that bad, then on Sat. after biking 4 miles I come home and got chest pain in the lower left quad. I went to a cardiologist today and after running a ecg, and taking my history he said I have FIBROMYALGIA.  I came home and started reading up in it, and it does not seem anything what I am experiancing. I feel like I am going crazy, like no one is listening to me.  I think  something is wrong with my heart....I get so much anxiety, and even my haiir started to shed out of my head....I am 27 years old...why is this happening...is anyone else experiancing this?

Hi, Anna, and welcome!  I get heart palpatations and I have also had some chest pain that turned out to be muscular.  When this started for me, even though I do have fibromyalgia, I saw my doctor.  He did the electrocardiogram, an echocardiogram, an ultrasound of my heart, and had me wear a monitor for 24 hours.  My heart was fine.  I know it is frightening, but now I KNOW that it's fibro.

Anxiety is also an issue with fibromyalgia.  But most of us have pain and fatigue.  The pain seems to be in many of our backs, shoulders, and necks.

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread....the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibromyalgia, including a list of symptoms.  This might help you and you just might see yourself there!

I'm glad you found us and joined in.  Read back posts.  There is a world of information in them.  Also, don't hesitate to ask questions.  We are here to help you.  I hope to hear more from you soon.

During my diagnosis process, they did a bone scan, an ekocardiogram, a chest cat scan, chest x-rays, and a lung function test, as well as ALL manner of bloodwork.

hi,
You should really check out the thread on the symptoms. They say you should have pain in nearly every quadrant of the body with an emphasis on the pressure points indicated on most fibro sites if you google it.
Anxiety can be a problem also as living with chronic pain takes it toll mentally.
I hope you get some answers, i took me years to get a right dx and even longer to accept it.

Just a thought...my sis-in-law has lupus. She was on lexapro for about 4 years also. She tried to wean off of it and had very similar symptoms to what your describing. She had panic attacks and thought she was having a stroke, as well as heart pain. They put her on anti-anxiety meds and uped her prednisone and she is slowly improving.
THe best thing to do is to see a good rheumatologist who can talk to you about all your symptoms and then determine if its fibro or not.
Good luck!

I would seek a second and third opinion. Don't freak out. Stay calm. Just see a cardiologist and rhuematologist. Take care.

For one FM does not show on an EKG. I've never heard of a cardiologist diagnosing someone with FM. What is up with that. Quack Dr. I would go back and see the Chief cardiologist there. Plus go to a different facility and see a better Dr. to diagnose your heart condition, so it can be treated right away. The heart condition should be a priority at this point.

An EKG does not rule out heart problems and other tests should be run before settling on a fibro diagnosis. Fibro is what you end up with after they've ruled out other things. You may have fibro but I wouldn't settle on the diagnosis just yet.

Definitely get a second opinion, especially when there is a possibility of heart problems.

I had a cardiologist diagnose me while he was standing in a doorway, looking at my medical history. He said that there was no way I could have heart problems because I wasn't in menopause yet. He finally listened to my heart and said I was fine, there was not even a murmur. I know for a fact that I have a damaged aortic valve and there is a pronounced murmur. Also, women can have heart problems at any age.

I was thinking you should have your Dr. order an Eco of your heart STAT, because the heart issue is very serious.
