I was diagnosed with fibro 2yrs ago, however have had fibro symptoms for over 5yrs.
I have tried virtually every drug imaginable to help the pain, with only one working and that was effexor.  Needless to say, effexor did help, for about 2yrs then totally stopped working.
question is, I was just got a RX for Sevella, I am on my third day and last night I was a mess.
I started puking at 1:30 a.m, and didn't stop until 7 this morning.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
Is this a side effect from the drug, or the flue?
If this is a side effect, will it go away after the drug is increased?
someone please give me hope
fibro hugs, (but, please don't squeeze to tight, my triggers are killing me)

lilibit, Welcome to the forum, There has been alot of discussion on Savella the last
couple weeks. You might want to read some of the old posts.

Sorry you are feeling so bad. It sounds like you are having a bad side effect from the
savella. There are a number of members here who have tried Savella and ended
up with the horrible side effect of nausea.

I have been on savella for 5 weeks and never had any bad side effects. Some people
adjusted better to it after a few days.

Hoping you feel better soon. Welcome again to the fibromite family

Hi, Lora, and welcome!  I don't take this medication so I can't help you but I do know others will be on soon with their experiences...just like Robin.

In the upper left hand corner of the page you will see a Google custom search.  Just type in Savella and all the threads discussing this will come up and you will see how this medication is working with our members.  (Be sure to spell it correctly (Savella) when you type it in or you won't get the information.)

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibro and you can learn a lot there.  Also, reading back post is great.  There is a world of info in them too.

I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  Don't hesitate to ask questions.  We are here to help you.  Hope to hear more from you soon.

Lora-

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time with Savella. I started it about a month ago and had horrible Nausea. What I did was ate something a little fatty like peanut butter with it and that helped tremendously. If I don't eat something with some sort of fat I get sick. Not sure if it would help you but it is worth a try. Throwing up is no fun and no one wants to deal with that!

I have not noticed ANY improvements with the Savella either but my doctor told me to wait longer.

Good luck!

thanks everyone for your responses,
I will read back through other posts when I get a break from this awful vomiting
I went to the store today to get some 7-up and crackers, and just as we were about to get to our exit to home - I had to swerve off the major highway and puke, yet again.
the poor guys were freakin out..... I felt so bad
i am getting ready to take my nightly regime of drugs (including my p.m. dose of Savella)
I pray that I make it through the night with no vomiting
fibro hugs,
Lora

You may want to try the "recipe" below.  This was give to me years ago and it has worked great for vomiting for my family.  It seems to settle the stomach and keeps you from becoming dehydrated.  My adult children still use it!

                 For Nausea and Vomiting

                      1/2 Cup Gingerale

                      1/2 Cup Orange Juice

1 Tablespoon Karo Syrup (Light or Dark)

Mix together and give one tablespoon every ten minutes for six doses (if needed).  Then give every 20 minutes until 2-3 doses are retained and nausea stops.

My kids continued to sip on it because it tasted so good to them!  Hope this helps.

God bless you Sherrine
I would say that it was more like projectile than vomiting, and fortunatly, I haven't had a spell since 4:30 yesterday. I hope this means that I just had a bug. I still have the headache, however I can deal with those.
If I projectile again I will def. use your recipie
fibro hugs.,

I had a horibble time the entire first month as my body adjusted to Savella. I almost gave up several times but stuck with it. I was constantly feeling ill and almosted vomitted on several occasions. The hot flashes, excessive sweating and vivid nightmares were horrible. I had to take my second dose earlier in the day and that helped a great deal. No more vivid violent nightmares and the nausea was much better, although it do not go away until after the first month. My stomach is always the tell for me though. If my body is unhappy I can rely on my stomach to let me know first. I have now been on Savella for two months and the side effects are virtually gone. I do have to make sure I take both doses with food. I am glad I hung in there, but, I know it works differently for different individuals. My pain is somewhat less than it normally would be during the life circumstances I am dealing with currently, as is my anxiety and panic disorder. Just a side effect that I wasn't expecting and could be because the pain is more managable or perhaps the Savella itself, who knows. One way or the other, I am very happy with Savells.

I hope you feel better and find some relief soon!
