You cannot see my pain.
I look normal to you.

You say I am fine,
but you don't know the truth.

I may look healthy.
I may look very fit.

But the reality is
that I am rather sick.

You cannot see my illness.
But it really is there.

I am not faking to get attention.
It is not all in my head.

You cannot see my pain.
You cannot understand.

But this is very real.
This invisible illness of mine.
'Cause when push comes to shove
you taste what you're made of.
You might bend til you break
'cause it's all you can take.
On your knees you look up
decide you've had enough.
You get mad.
You get strong.
Wipe your hands
shake it off.
Then you stand.

Very, very good Sassy. This poem could be used for many illnesses on Healingwell, not just Fibro. I also have Crohns Disease and Osteoarthritis, both illnesses that can't be seen, so I know that poem would apply there too.

Hugs!

Thanks Sassy!

I need to print that out and put it up at my desk for all the yaw-whos that think I'm "normal". They think if I'm not limping or I might be joking around and smiling, "I'm all better."

Have a wonderful day! :-)
