I was very upset yesterday and cried all day and couldn't talk about this but today is another day.  Saturday night, my oldest daughter was at a friend's home.  They have a Rottweiler and it was very friendly.  My daughter was petting it all evening.  She went to leave but went back in the house to say good-bye to the dog.  She bent down to hug it and it bit her badly in the face!

She was bleeding profusely so they called the paramedics and she was taken to the hospital by ambulance.  The dog nicked an artery but they stopped the bleeding.

Then they sent her to another hospital because the other hospital had a plastic surgeon on call.  He spent 2 1/2 hours stitching her face and she needed 200 stitches.  She was released with morphine pills and is resting today.

She was blessed because if the dog bit deeper, she could have bled to death.  It could have ripped her lips or nose off or blinded her in one eye.  So, I'm very thankful today.

I firmly believe in prayer so, if you are a praying person, please pray that these wounds heal with no complications and no scarring.  I've seen that happen before.  The plastic surgeon felt confident that she would heal nicely but I've seen a picture of her and it looks bad right now.  But, then again, she is swollen.

I thank all of you in advance.

OH MY! That is terrible!! thank goodness that it wasn't worse. My blessings are being sent your way and i hope your daughter recovers very fast. This is the type of thing that always makes me want to remind dog owners... doesn't matter how friendly your dog is, dogs can be unpredictable. ((((( hugs )))) to you and your daughter.

Sherrine, I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your daughter. Thank God, it wasn't worse than it was. She is safe and she is healing, she will be ok. Take a deep breath, and then another. I think we always feel it worse when something happens to our children.

My sister has a dog that is 1/2 Pit and 1/2 ???. She had no idea it was a Pit when her ex brought it home. He told her Lab. I went over the 1st time to see the dog and told her what it was, she thought I was wrong. NOT! The 2nd time I went over I brought some dog cookies for him. He has been my best buddy since then, he knows who 'Aunt Alice' is and lays all over me. BUT I will not enter that house if my sister isn't home. My trust of that dog only goes so far. Not to single out Pits, I am not comfortable going up to strange dogs or dogs out in their yrs. They are too unpredictable. My dogs have always been mushes in my house, outside they are 'on guard'. I always warn ppl about that attitude.

Of course, your DD will be in my prayers and you also, my friend. She will be alright, we are all praying for her (and her mother) and God is watching her. Have a cup of your cinnamon tea and try to calm down. We want you both healthy.

God bless.  Alice.

Sherrine you know you and your DD are in my prayers. She was blessed that it was below the eye and not in the eye and there was a plastic surgeon available. Hopefully there will be no scars on her beautiful face.

I know we have many dog lovers on here, myself included, but even the little ones can't be trusted (as Tiquey is trying to cut teeth on my thumb).

Definetly count my prayers in there too. I will pray for a swift recovery for her, and a peaceful spirit for Mom.

Sherrine, I'm so sorry this happened! I hope your daughter makes a speedy recovery and that you are able to calm yourself. What a horrible thing to have happened to her, but I'm so glad she was able to get to the hospital and that there was a plastic surgeon there to take care of her. Please take care of you now,
Miriam

Please know that she is in my prayers as are you too! Moms suffer pain right along with their children. Once you have kids you understand what that means. Take care of you too...OK?

Oh Sherrine, that's awful! But I'm so glad it wasn't worse!
She'll be swollen for quite some time, and probably black and blue.
I will be sending good, healing thoughts her way!
There are things on the market now to decrease scaring, so maybe that will be helpful later.
((((((hugs))))))) to you and your daughter!
(How old is she Sherrine?) Bless her heart.

Dear Sherrine,

I cannot tell you how sorry I am to read this. You have been on my mind and I have very poor service here in NH so am absent so much.

I WILL pray hard for both of you and send you many many warm hugs. If she is anything like her mom she is a fighter and very strong.

Please let us know how she is doing.

God Bless, Patsie

Thank you all for all your prayers and good wishes.  My daughter is doing fine and is handling this so wonderfully!  She has even told me some positive things that have occured because of this situation!  That's amazing.

By the way, she is 35 and single...a career woman so far.

She is actually helping the owner of the dog who is a friend of hers!  She said that it's funny...she is HIS support system!  He is very upset and can't believe this happened.  The dog was kissing my daughter's face all evening and then all of a sudden did this!  It definitely was a accident.

She will be going back to the plastic surgeon in a week or so to have some stitches taken out.  I'll let you all know how she is doing.  Hmmmm....I wonder if the doctor is single????  devil

Thanks, again, and keep those prayers coming.  It's the best thing for healing!
