I have been feeling nauseous for a few weeks now, but never really gave it a second thought, I was thinking fibro... it's happened before. Now for about 10 (?) days, I've had the feeling of something stuck in my throat. It's not the kind of feeling that makes you want to cough, or a tickle. It feels like a small lump that is wedged, around the height of where your clavicles meet but further back. This also comes with a feeling of pressure down the sternum and a feeling of a hot weight in the pit of the stomach, just under the ribs. Almost like if I was punched. This isn't painful, but very uncomfortable. the sensations starts at he throat and works its way down, not the other way around. I don't taste acid, nor is there any burning. This started about the time or shortly after I had black diarrhea from the Naproxen I was taking.

I'm thinking gallstones, but I really don't know. I don't really trust my instincts with the way my anxiety has run rampant this last week.
If you felt like this, how long would you wait before you called the doctor? What does this sound like to you? Do you think I may be hurting myself for using a wait-and-see approach? If it is gallstones, can they go away on their own? I've gone to the doctor so much this past little while with my facial pain, I don't want to go again of I don't have to.

I didn't have anything like that when I had gallstones. Gallstones are known for sharp stabbing pain in the back, under the right shoulder blade, and tenderness in front under the right rib cage.

Thanks Donna. I forgot to add that my back has been hurting more than usual too, mostly in between and on the right shoulder blade. That's why I was thinking gallstones. But I have no sharp pain, and no tenderness when I press on my stomach.

I'm feeling like such a fool :S Especially after my brave post that I will not let this stupid anxiety take over anymore! Here the pains started again late this afternoon, and I'm imagining all kinds of nonsense again. I thought I had a handle on all that my body was going to throw at me with the fibro. Who's having the last laugh now? :(

I had my gallbladder removed due to disease and inflamation. I had burning pain in
my right upper abdomen and the pain continued to wrap around my shoulder blade
area. The pain was very intense and I would have to get a hypo of demerol just to make
it tolerable. I was 25 when I had my gallbladder removed. Initially the doc told me I
was too young for gallbladder trouble and it was an ulcer, after a couple trips to the
ER my doc tested me and I was referred to a surgeon. You will definately know if you
are having an attack, it hurts like h***.

I wound up in the emergency room years go with horrible back pain and nausea.  It was 3 robin egg sized gallstones and my gallbladder was gangrenous.  Had it taken out 3 days later after they calmed the infection down.   The lump in your throat  and pain in the stomach sounds like the symptom I was having with an allergic reaction to my blood pressure medicine.  I'm very allergic to sulfa and always tell Dr's. this but I still was prescribed lisinopril which people with sulfa allergies should not take.  I would give my doctor a call.   I started thinking I was having a heart attack.

allergy huh? I can't think of anything that has changed, other than raising amitriptyline, and the Naproxen I took for 3 days. After the black bm's, I was concerned of my stomach, I've never had a GI bleed before.... Oh well, I feel much better about waiting. Seems to me if it was something dangerous, I wouldn't be able to sit here and type, from your descriptions.

Thank you for the reassurance.

I was on the lisinopril for years.  After a hospital stay it was even increased.  I put sulfa allergy on all forms and no one caught it.  It was my pharmacist who told me that lisinopril is related to sulfa.  When I told my doctor he was surprised--it is such a small connection to the 2 drugs.  What finally made me realize what it was --- I started breaking out in a rash each day in addition to the pains and swallowing problems.

I wouldn't wait. When I had gall bladder surgery they found I also had cehrossis of the liver. The liver doctor told me they had to do an endoscopy? <sp> where they put a tube down your throat to view it. He said it caused something like a blood blister that if they burst could cause death. Those weren't his words just how I remember them lol.

Anyway your problem may not be that but anything in the throat is not worth waiting on. See your doctors soon ok?

Keep smiling
