There has been an extreme amount of stress in my life in the last 6 weeks, and I have started to hurt a lot every day. What is concerning me is that my legs and ankles have started swelling. When I was drinking diet coke all the time, my ankles swelled all the time. But I don't drink soft drinks anymore, and my legs are swelling all the way to my knees. My hands swell too.
It is not my blood pressure. I have checked.
Does anyone else swell with your pain? Should I be concerned that this is a symptom of something serious? I really can't go to the doctor now, unless it is an emergency. My husband has been out of work for 6 weeks.

Poodles, I swell and have increased pain when I eat carbs. Doc told me that the carbs increase inflammation and that most carbs are also packed with hidden sodium. There is actually more salt in a piece of bread than there is in 10 potato chips. Weird, huh? Do you think this may be the problem?

I also swell occasionally. When I do I stay away from salt and caffeine...my doctor also said to eat more fresh veggies and no canned due to the excessive salt content. No cheese either...he was adamant about that. When I did these things my legs went from extremely swollen to normal in about a week. I could actually feel the water leave my system...it was such a good feeling. Also no caffeine and no diet sodas. That helps with my sleeping also.

Hope this helps.
