I had never heard to Neurontin, so I looked it up. Is this medication a lot like Lyrica? I noticed that they are both technically anti-seizure medication. Can anyone give me some more info on this?

Sassy, if you go to Mayo Clinic site or Medline Plus and look up neurontin you will probably get more info than I can give you. Yes they are both anti-seizure meds and lyrica is the new version of neuontin but I don't think neurontin has as many side effects.

I have looked it up before but you know with the brain fog can't retain info very long. smilewinkgrin I'm thinking about trying it myself, it's been in my cabinet for months now.

luv and hugs

Neurontin is good for nerve pain too. Many diabetics take it for neuropathy pain. I tried it and it made me stutter. So I went off of it. But it wont do that for everybody. Just me. lol...

Have a good day all.

I was on neurontin for nerve pain, the doc started me on 50 mgs. then upped me every two weeks until I was taking 150 mgs. 3 times a day.

Well, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy (if I had any).

If you want to be in la-la land 24/7 it's for you. I took that much to reduce the leg pain I was having, but, then I was in a fog & fell asleep during tv, movies, didn't remember half of what went on in my day or night!

I quit it, went off slowly, it can be addictive, it was bad for me.

Think twice before taking it, believe me.

They still never found the right med for my pain, so, I'm living with it!

I have been taking neurontin for about 3 years. When I was put on it I could'nt even raise my arms above my shoulders. I really did'nt have any side effects. At first I wondered why the neurologyst would put me on antisiezure med. then I read it was good for pain (on some people), he did gradually increase the dosage till I reached the max. My sister is a diabetic and she takes it for her pain as well.

Now I don't know if my pain is from arthritis Or any of the other medical problems I have . I have really been in a lot of pain lately. Cant take any more nurontin (gabpentine) . And I can't take anything else like tylenol which probobly was the culprit for my cryptogenic liver disease.
So I'm in at catch 22 like the rest of you I'm living with it! june
