I have the flu.  Don't know if it is the regular flu or the n1h1 flu.  Apparently they present the same.  When it first started on Friday, I thought it was a bad flare.  The cough was my only clue that this wasn't a flare, but a sickness.  I have been fighting high fever for two days and now have been fever free for about 12 hours.  the fever was the worst. It cause me to break out in a drenching sweat, then get cold cuz I was so wet.  took lots of tylenol to make the fever more bearable and keep it below 102.   lost 4 pounds already.  I hurt all over from being in bed so long.  But I am too weak to get out of bed and do anything for very long.  I am feeling a bit better and am up for a little while right now.   Do fibro people have less immune system than others?  I dont think so, but was just wondering.  must go back to bed soon.

I have read articles that claim FMS is auto-immune related and read ones that say it isnt. So who knows. Maybe it's more auto-immune related in some and in others not. Maybe that's why some people have FMS along with things like Lupus or Sclederma, or MS, ect... Then others just have FMS. Who knows!! Makes me think....

I know when I get the flu, I'm down for a good week. Any sickness takes me extra long to recover. I also experiance a longer "i feel like I'm getting sick" phase.

Just so everyone knows. I have heard that Tamiflu is very effective against H1N1. I have a friend whos daughter tested positive and they started her on Tamiflu and she was FINE within 24 hours!!!

Sue,

I am sorry that you are under the weather. I hope that you start feeling better soon.

Sometimes when we are down like this, it is good to rest. Drink plenty of fluids too as you don't want to dehydrate. Take it easy and get better soon. I am glad that your fever broke.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hugs, Karen

I'm sorry Sue. All in all I have a strong immune system, I hope I don't regret writing that. DH and I are still on the fence on getting shots. He has been on steroids and antibiotics the past couple of months for a polyp in his sinuses that is scheduled to be removed the 27th of Oct. He is also going on 67 years old.

They are giving them at our local Walgreens and I think we should both get them, that will be a first for me.

I hope the worst is over for you and your back on your feet soon.

luv and hugs

If you want serious help with the immune system try using Colostrum. It's bovine breast milk,
or if you are lactose intolerant it comes in goat's milk. I have been using this with hylaronic acid
for about 3 years now and the dr visits have become minimal. This year only once for a sinus
infection. I take 2 pills each in the morn and nite. When I had allergy testing (35 needles in each
arm) the lady said I had the toughest skin she had ever seen.

Sue, I am sorry the flu bug got you. I hope the worst of it is over and that you are feeling better very soon. Take it easy and get as much rest as you can.

I am immune compromised so I am hoping that pesky flu bug stays away from me.

Take Care,

Robin

I hope you are feeling better soon.  This probably was the H1N1 flu because I think it only lasts a few days.  The seasonal flu usually lasts a week or a little more.  I'm glad you are getting stronger now.

Oh, Sue, I'm so sorry you are feeling so bad. I hope you are feeling so much better by morning. Are you able to hold anything down, ginger ale or pretzels?

I was told yrs ago that my immune system was very poor, this was way before I was dx w/ FMS, but I've had FMS all my life. Generally, if there is something going around, it magically finds me. So I don't know if the weakened immune system is due to FMS or something else going on in my body.

I will keep you in my prayers for a very speedy recovery, but rest and drink liquids, as much as you can handle. Hope you have a good night's rest.

God bless.  Alice.

I am finally starting to get better.  I can get out of bed for awhile and today I actually did some laundry before having to stop and rest.  This flu is a big booger and makes you feel just awful.  I was dehydrated for a couple of days and had lots of fever raged nightmares.  I am still really weak, but am glad glad glad to be out of bed.  Makes me appreciate even my fibro body.

Sue, glad to hear you are starting to get better. That flu sounds nasty! Have you tried
popsicles to help from getting dehydrated? They help me when I am feverish.

Take it easy. I hope you are better soon.
