I hurt from head to toe clear to the bone over the weekend so finally gave in and took neurontin. Some of you know with my medphobia that was a biggy for me.

So far, okay only have taken two, the only thing I notice is a headache and I seem foggier this morning. I can't say the pain is any less so how long does it take before you notice a difference in the pain???

I have misplaced the instructions the doc wrote out for me on how long I'm suppose to stay on 100mg before I up it so guess I will have to call doc office for that. Yeah, I put it where I would remember where it is.

Please let me know how it is working for others and what to expect from it, thank you???

luv and hugs

Marlee, I know you must be hurting so badly to resort to using the med. I hope that it helps you and soon! I also hope it doesn't cause you any serious problems, headaches are such a miserable thing to deal w/, I know.

Call your dr and refresh your memory of what to expect and what to do. Probably the fogginess from the med is causing you to forget where you left the instructions. Maybe tell Ken where you put them this time, just in case you forget, he can remind you.

As far as the med itself, I have never taken it, so I have no idea of what to expect. I will say a prayer that it helps you, w/ no adverse side effects. Let us know how everything is going w/ it. Good Luck!!

God bless.  Alice.

Hi Marlee!

I have taken neurontin and didn't have issues with side effects which is odd for me. Those types of med's usually bother me. BUT...I didn't get any relief either. I do hope it works for you!

BTW, if you find those instructions where you put them, would you see if my iron is there too? I put it away in a different place that normal, I guess, and haven't found it in 2 months of looking. It's the same deal. I put it away so good that ever I can't find it..lol

Hi Marlee, I hope this med does help you. I took it way back when and it didn't do me any good. I also didn't have any side effects from it. Good luck. Diane

Marlee,

I took neurontin years ago and it made me stutter. So I went off of it. Didn't notice any type of relief from the pain either. I stick with my hydrocodone.

I hope that it helps you.

Hugs, Karen

Thanks for all the support girls!!! I truly hate taking a new med. sad Still have the headache but there is rain in the forecast again too. I have had more anxiety today but is that the neurontin or me taking the neurontin???

By the way I'm not hurting as much as I was over the weekend but I don't think that has anything to do with the neurontin. I've been doing a lot more than normal with doing the prep work so DH could paint and now I'm deep cleaning my freshly painted family room so I can get the pictures and stuff back up.

I hope to hear some positive things about it.

Marlee, I've never taken this either but I do hope this works for you.  I, too, have a medphobia and avoid taking medication if I can get away with it.  Yes, you really have to be hurting to take it.  I hope you are happily surprised!

Marlee...I take neurontin in generic form and it does work for me.  I take 300 mg and the rheumatologist said I should be taking more.

I am also afraid to take new drugs.  I took Savella before this and it made me aggravated.  So I understand being leary of taking them.  Makes one feel like a guinea pig.

For the first couple of days I wasn't sure if it worked or not.  It seemed it didn't but then when I found I did not take  it I was hurting more.  I had no side affects from it except that I did sleep much better and I needed this badly.

Now, if I start to feel like I'm hurting real bad, I'll take an extra one and gives me relief.  Not like taking a narcotic but the pain 'does' ease up.

It may be that you're not taking enough to help you.

Hope this helps.

By the way...the fogginess was with me also but it's because it helps you sleep and when you allow yourself to sleep and rest it goes away soon.  As far as brain fog from fibro...it doesn't help with that..just pain.

Congrats for starting! I've taken it with no side effects. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. But then again, most meds that work for others don't work the same way for me. eyes

Good luck!!  smilewinkgrin

Marlee, good for you - I've been taking it since February and it has helped me remarkably. I take 900mg each night. My side effects are mostly from dryness, as I mentioned in the other post, including dry mouth (as well as hair, nails, and skin). If you stay well hydrated it shouldn't last long after you get up. I noticed my vision seems to be flatteniing out/getting a bit worse, but my doc that could be any one of my meds., or just lovely aging. Good luck! Keep us posted. I hope very much it works for you.
