Ok.  So I am 38yrs young and have had fibro for years, along with a very low thyroid level (not out of normal range, but literally at the very bottom of normal).
So I went to a new doctor and she did saliva hormone testing.  Well, turns out my progesterone level is very low(mine is 24, and the normal range is 75-270).  She is starting me on oral progesterone suppliments, AND she said that low progesterone levels cause fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism, insomnia, irritability, PMS and weight gain!!  All the problems I have been having for YEARS!  I am trying really hard not to get my hopes up about this new therapy, but I really hope it works!
I will keep you all updated on it...

Thanks,
fancymom

Fancymom, I don't know anything about this but a little flag goes up for me when anyone says that "this" causes fibromyalgia.  The doctors and scientists and researchers do not know what causes fibro.  If this lack of progesterone did cause fibromyalgia, I think nearly all of our doctors would have us taking this.  But, I'm not a doctor.

I did google this and found this information from the Mayo Clinic.  It appears, at your age, it is normal to have the lower levels of progesterone.  You might want to read up on this.  Maybe your levels are low because you might be starting the beginning of menopause.  Nevertheless, I hope you get some relief from doing this.

Progesterone helps some women but it is definitely not a miracle cure. (My progesterone levels are high.)

I hope it helps you.
