spasms in the neck

Hey ya'll,
Does anyone have suggestions for how to watch tv or ride in the car without causing spasms in the neck?

I practice holding my neck against the back of the seat. I have trouble watching tv cuz my couch iis high & puffy & pushes my head forward. I change positions a lot. I make sure my neck is straight if I'm on my side.

I habe andykilotis spondylitis (sp?) & spinal stenosis of the cervical & lumbar spine. I'm 27 & I already have a larhe "hump" where my neck & spine join. In the past year it has become 2 close together. My fibro is bad, but this is the main source of my pain. It is a constant battle, esp in addition to fibro for instance: I do not drive long distances. My husband has noticed how much even an hour drive hurts me. I cannot do repetitive motions like painting, mopping, vacuuming. I also absolutely cannot have a desk job. I did that for four years and it made the degeneration progress much faster.

i understand what you mean I suffer from this as well. For me I use a neck pillow both when I travel and also watching the TV. Also when I sleepnat night is has helped me no end.

I also use a pillow ...I hate it though can't drive far or I get bad migraines and then I sleep all day till its gone today in church I was in so much pain I started to cry and all I could do is neck excersises and people were staring at me but I didn't care I can't sit longer then 20 min and can't lay that long or I need help out of bed thank god for my husband he gets my meds and helps me out of bed I have degenerative disc disease in my neck now for 6 years I'm 35 and in a 90 yr old body



Dx with fibromyalgia disc disease sacroilitis psoriatic arthrits Ibs.

It helps to have an arm rest. I drive with hands resting on the inside bottom of the steering wheel and always have pillows while sitting on the couch. I also just started driving with the heating pad. A cushion behind the back helps, too.
