I was just wondering those who have taken it how long and what dosage did u finally (if at all) feel some relief? and if you gained weight how soon did it happen? cus its not helping so far its only been 4 days tho. And im gaining a little weight but im not sure if its cause the lyrica is making me want to eat more or if its just my normal fluxuations. But being that i suffer from an eating disorder i really prefer not to gain anymore weight since its already difficult to keep it under control with everything else going on.
Probable diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Along with: Bipolar,OCD, Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, anxiety, gastroparesis, pcos, add Meds: Neurontin, Lyrica, OMEGA 3 Fish oil and vit d3, tenex wellbutrin i stopped taking.

I took Lyrica for 2 to 3 weeks before I felt a difference. It worked, but then the pain would come back and dr upped the dose. Pain came back upped the dose, etc.....I forget what i was on when I stopped, I had bad memory problems and had gained 30lbs. I think I took it about a year, but then again all meds effect us all differently. Hope it works for you. If you do stop it, be sure to taper off. It was hard to stop.

Thanks guys. Justlivelife best wishes to you too. btw i hope no one thinks i honestly expect to be painfree or even feel significantly different after only 4 days and only on an extremely low dose at bedtime. I know meds take time trust me been on them 12 yrs of my short 26yr exisistence. I just have such horrible pain lately that i wanted to know if others found relief within a couple weeks as opposed to a month ya know? plus REALLY concerned with weight gain

I started gaining 1/2 pound a day right away with Lyrica. I stopped after I had gained 14 lbs and was not eating much of anything.
I switched to Neurontin (very similar) and have had no weight gain, same or better relief from pain. I started 100 mg at night, then added a morning dose. I'm taking it TID now after about a month. Neurontin has allowed me to get off Vicodin and Clinoril. I still use one tramadol in the morning.

Here is some info on copay help with lyrica, I cut an pasted it

Name of Offer: Lyrica® Co-Pay Savings Card
Description: Coupon You Can Only Get From Your Doctor
Your doctor can obtain a supply of these coupons by calling Pfizer at: 1-212-733-2323.

Details: Lyrica® Co-Pay Savings Card is a "Co-Pay reduction" coupon. Pfizer arranges it so that the maximum co-pay you have to pay for a Lyrica prescription is $25.00 per month for up to 12 months. The maximum co-pay reduction with this card is $70 per prescription.

The savings cards are part of a comprehensive program designed to increase the chances a person obtaining a successful outcome when using Lyrica®.

These coupons are widely distributed by Pfizer sales representatives. Your doctor must be willing to sit down with the representative for a few minutes in order to obtain these cards.

If your doctor does not have a supply of these coupons, he must contact his Pfizer representative. If he does not know who his Pfizer representative is he should call Pfizer at 1-212-733-2323. Pfizer will dispatch a pharmaceutical representative to meet with your doctor, drop off the coupons and explain how the program works.

You can check any meds here to see if there are coupoos or programs to help with the cost. http://www.internetdrugcoupons.com

I have been on it for about 2 weeks now at 75mg. I started feeling a slightly better amount about 4days to a full week into it.

It wasn't an ooo ahhh for normal fibro people, but i was completely disabled using wheelchairs, walkers etc. and now i can walk the house, cook dinner etc. even though i am in a ton of pain.

It did make me a bit better and made me not so exhausted anymore which is wonderful.

Some people need more saratonin (probably spelled wrong, please forgive my bad spelling) in the brain than others and some meds produce more than others, so finding the right dose and meds may be a challenge for some.

I am also on paxil and elavil, so the combo might be why lyrica worked better when i started it.

I wish you great health.

thanks eveyrone for the great responses!! Today starts day 5 (take it at midnight) and zero relief couldnt sleep again last night from stupud pain!! A couple of you mentioned neurontin. I am well aware of neurontin as ive actually been on the med for about a yr and a half give or take. However i started the med well before my diagnosis of fibro and it is for anxiety and irritability. For my anxiety it works great! i take 3 doses a day of 600 mgs each. So i just cant see the neurontin helping me for my pain but at this point if it is helping even some im completely unaware and wouldnt want to come off the med and be in excruciating pain even more so. Thanks about the information on the copay! I have amedicare part d prescription plan so im not sure if thatd help me or not but i got my first 21 pills for free so i cant complain. My pain dr is VERY considerate when trying to find meds that i can afford. And im too afraid to step on the scale. But i would rather know sooner than 15 lbs later i suppose lol. :)
