Oh wow how I wish this pain would go away. I have had a stressful weekend and now I feel like a truck ran over me, twice! I have a migraine, and my body hurts all over. I am a 9 on the pain scale right now, with no end in sight! I am still waiting for an appt with the PM doctor. They told me I would get in within 2 weeks, but after 2 weeks, they called my PCP and asked for more information. I don't even know if I'm accepted yet! I have no pain meds at all to help me with this! My PCP refuses to give me any since she pawned me off on the PM place! Who knows how long I will have to wait! I even thought about going to the ER tonight, but I can't even do that. My husband gets off work at 9, but we have nobody to watch our 2 year old so he can take me. I have no idea what to do. I have taken more Tylenol today than I felt comfortable taking, I am on the heating pad, I took a hot bath earlier today, like I said, I have no clue what else to do. I am in tears and I should'nt have to go through this! I hate pain! Thanks for reading my rant....I hope things get better soon. I don't think my emotions can handle this much longer.

Tammy, I am so sorry you are hurting. The combination of Fibro pain and a Migraine is
always bad. If you are still miserable by the time hubby gets home from work, I would
go to the ER even if it meant taking your little one. You need some relief.

In the meantime try to relax, do some deep breathing exercises and gentle stretching.
Your neck and shoulder muscles are probably wound tight. I know migraines are horrible.

I used to suffer from terrible migraines and had to make trips to the ER for relief. It has
been awhile since I have had one. I do relaxation therapy daily and it has helped greatly.
I have a massage chair pad, do deep breathing exercises, and get a daily walk in.

Hope you are feeling better soon and that you are able find a doctor who is able to meet
your needs.

Hugs
Robin

Oh sweety i know how you feel about the horrible pain and no end in sight. Ive been an 8 on the scale all week and at this VERY minute im not toooo horrible. But i dont know how long it will last. I am still having facial pain though which is new. I also thought about the er and urgent care at my dr but didnt think they would really offer me any help. :( I really hope both of us can find relief soon. If you like to read try that others suggested it to me and it does help take your mind off the pain for at least a little bit.

(((Tammy)))) I am so sorry you are hurting this badly. I am in a flare now too, but thankfully no migraine. I do get horrible migraines and have found a few things that help. Try putting ice on the base of your skull. Ice constricts and migraines are related to expanded blood vessels, somehow. Caffeine will also help constrict the blood vessels.

Very very gentle stretches help alleviate some of the pain from fibro. But you have to do it slowly and gently. And if at all possible, try to reduce your stress reaction. I know it sounds insensitive, but I don't mean to. Sometimes we all get in so much pain that we cannot help but cry. If you can try some deep breathing and stress reducing activities, that will help slow the cycle of stress=pain=stress, etc. Deep breathing is a proven destresser and will help those tensing aching muscles relax some. One that works nicely for me is to breathe in count 1, breath out, count 2 and do that until you get to 10 and start over. If you lose your place, start over. Let the thoughts come and go and do not judge them. concentrate on breathing. Take long slow breaths.

I hope you feel better soon,
Sue

It's now morning and I haven't slept a wink all night. Still in horrible pain. I called my PCPs office this morning and the nurse said she couldn't give me anything stronger than Vicodin 5/500 1 every 4 hours. That's a joke on this pain. And also, she wouldn't give me anymore of them! What's the use? I've been waiting a month to get into the PM doctor, they haven't even called me. I've called them and got nowhere. I've called my PCP office back and told them I needed someone to get on the ball and get me in SOMEWHERE. I've been very adamant about someone doing something for me. I am suffering. I can't seem to get anywhere. On top of that, the hospital ER doctors are very hateful and don't help a bit. They actually told me that unless I had a broken bone, they wouldn't give any pain meds at all. Just go home and deal with it.

At the end of my rope here.

Have you tried to see a rheumatologist.  That's who dx me.  Ask them first if they have a doc on staff that has treated a fibro case.

The relaxation helps me as well as hot baths. Stretching is a must before I try to sleep.

I hope you get some relief soon.

At this point, my PCP is only referring me to the PM doctor. We talked about a Rheumy the day I was Dx, but she didn't want to do the referral there. She said the PM doc would be better for me. Now it's just a waiting game and I am not the most patient person in the world to say the least. I've waited a month already, it's getting ridiculus.

Do you have to have a referral? I just called my rheumy myself. They had to do 2 residencies so they are better trained to deal with fibro than other docs.
You are already on 2 meds for pain. I much prefer taking my neurontin 100 mg TID than one 300 mg at night, which just knocks me out. If vicodin doesn't touch the pain you may be becoming resistant to it and need to stop it for quite a while. That happened to me. I am now taking tramadol 4 times a day instead - less addicting and nearly the same pain relief. Since your vicodin has tylenol in it you have to add up how much more tylenol you take. 6 extra strength (same as arthritis strength) is max!
I see a pain doc, actually 2 of them, but they know zip about fibro, or at least never treat it. Their thing is spine and bursitis injections.

I do take my Neurontin 3x/day right now. I'm not noticing any relief with it either. From what I've gathered, Neurontin is a nerve pain med, and I don't have nerve pain!I've been on it for a month now so I think it's been long enough to tell. I had a bad reaction to Ultram/Tramadol last time I took it so that's not an option for me. I'm also allergic to Ibuprofen products. There has to be something that will help me. There just has to be. My body can't take much more of this horrid pain before I'll just go crazy!

Tammy, I'm sorry you are suffering so. You need to call and not ask if you can get it but tell them you can't take anymore and your coming in. All docs leave room for emergencies everyday. Enough is enough and these people can't feel your pain so they don't care how much your suffering. I hope you get help soon.

Marlee is right.  They can't turn you away, I believe.  You need some help and you need it now...not when they can get around to it.  I know I would be camping on my doctor's doorstep.  If I'm having problems, I call the doctor's nurse and she usually can get me right in.

Right now it's not a matter of getting in to see my doctor, I already called today and they said they can't do anything for me. I just have to wait until I can see the PM doc. They haven't even accepted me as a patient yet so I'm sure bugging them would not be a good idea right now. My husband is taking me to the ER tonight after he gets off work at 9. We only have one car so that's the only option. We got a sitter for our son so we can go. I'm not going to the local ER though. They were the ones who told me not to come unless I break a bone. Dumb%&#. There is a really good ER in the next town that really cares about pain and does everything they can to help you manage it, even if it's just for one night. I hope there's some light at the end of this tunnel for me tonight. I'll keep you updated as soon as I can.

Thanks for all your caring replies. I really appreciate it, especially today.

Tammy, so sorry you are still hurting.

Sounds to me like you need a new primary.  There are still docs out there that don't understand enough about fibro.  If that is not a option for you then I agree with the others, stay on them.  Hope you get some help soon.

Thank you for all your replies! I ended up at the ER last night which I didn't want to do, but I just couldn't handle it anymore. They gave me injections of Morphine until my pain was at a manageable level, and once I told the ER doc what I was going through with my doctor, and still waiting to get into the PM doc, he wrote me a script for the Lortab that I was out of. I was so appreciative, I actually hugged him. I have felt alot better today, and have actually gotten some things done around the house. My husband was surprised when he came home to find the dishes done and the house alot cleaner than when he went to work this morning! LOL It's surprising how functional I can be with just a little help over that hump.

Thanks again friends!

Tammy, I am so glad that you finally got some much needed pain relief!  It was good
that the ER doc was able to give you a script for ongoing relief.

So to hear you pain, been there myself up over 48 hours once becasue I was scared to fall asleep thinking I was having a heart attack. that was the beginning of my fibro. I do have terrible pain sometimes but not as bad as it was in the beginning. when I have a flare up like that I have to talk myself down tell myself you fine over and over agian. It does help alot.

I agree with the rheumatologist mine is wonderful he even called me back at 9 at night.
Hope you days get better and alse when you do finally go to the doctor ask him to take your vitamin D level. Mine was gone and once he got it back up the pain got much better do a little reaidng on the level D difficiency and you would be amazed at the outcome of how that can cause a lot of pain.

I hope you do get better so that you can enjoy the holidays and keep in mind your not alone we all are on this website for a reason. Keep your chin up and demand to be seen.

I am glad to hear that you got someone who actually gave a s*(&. I sure hope that u r feeling better!! gentle hugs
I went last week to the er and the admitting nurse put down on admitting form that I was uncooperative. I don't know what I did, but answer her questions what the bp and pulse reading were... and then told the nurse who would be taking care of me that I was a junkie looking for a fix! I have NEVER been so humiliated in my entire life. shakehead They did not give a flying care about my pain at all!!! Doc gave me flexeril which messes me up so bad and have only taken 3 doses cuz it does nothing for pain but make me feel like i have been drinking all year. I am dizzy and nauseous and really dazed and confused. I don't know if there is another hospital around here, will have to check this out, but that could be a trip soon if i don't hear from doc buy tomorrow. We have to have some kind of rights other than finding another doc when we are in such pain...some kind of protection. rolleyes rolleyes
