My weekend consisted of two 7 hour drives, and two nights of dancing. I am so sore but it was so worth it. I learned that I should not polka, unless I want to feel like I am dying. Waltzing is ok though. It was a great weekend though, and I got to catch up to multiple groups of wonderful friends!

So, who else has a fun activity that makes them sore but is totally worth it?

WCC, in answer to your question, NO!!!! I think you are just trying to live as if this is your one and only life. Good for you!! The drive had to be a killer, oh but the dancing, that's magic. Don't give up the polka, that music just pulls you in, it is so alive. Just do a ratio of waltz - 3 to polka - 1. And you got see so many of your friends, that's terrific. All those good memories to warm you during this holiday season. Hope you got pictures to help keep the memories alive.
My idea of a fun activity is to be out in my garden, planting or weeding. Not really able to do that for awhile, we have at least 2 ft of snow covering our yd, ice covering our st, and freeze your tail feathers cold here. I need tee shirt weather to go out in my yd for gardening. I am the ultimate Sugar Plum.
I was listening to a Christmas song done to polka music, it was lovely. Your post just brought that back to me. Thank you!
Merry Christmas!
God bless.  Alice.

WCC, I'm going to be swing dancing at my son's wedding reception next week. We'll see if I'm still alive on NYday. Diane

I still think I am slightly insane ...
The place I go dancing usually does pretty much a waltz, polka, mazurka rotation with a few other dances thrown in on occasion, so what I used to do was sit out the mazurkas, as I am not coordinated enough to do the mazurka step ... now that I've got Fibro, I've come to the conclusion that I also have to sit out the polkas :)

Dancing!  What a lucky girl.  The drive would have been almost impossible for me.  Sitting hurts me.  But the dancing--makes you feel so alive!
Diane, what kind of swing dance do you do?  We do a variation of east coast called St. Louis Imperial Swing. I love it.  And yes, I feel like I have been hit by a truck the next day. :-)  Worth ever minute of it though.

I used to love to dance a few years, well more than a few years back.  The fibro has really pulled me down in the last 8 years.  I have a tough time standing and walking, much less dancing.  Oh, but I loved to do the polka at weddings mostly.  I miss those days.  Do it for as long and as often as you can.  That's my advice to you all.

You can polka??!!  That is really cool.  I am glad you had a good time.  I just recently recovered from dancing a couple of weeks ago!  Pacing yourself makes it easier.

lol my theory on dancing is to find a partner who knows what he's doing, and then to step around or bounce around pretending I know what I'm doing.

I'm so happy to see peeps enjoying life! Sometimes we focus too much on our pain. Dancing in the living room in the dark... Ahhh!
