Hi

My mum has been suffering from various things, such as aching joints, muscle pain, fatigue, problems sleeping , headaches, neck pain...the list goes on.

She has had various tests, such a blood tests and x-rays whuch have all come back normal and she is now starting to believe it is in her head and is snapping out at people.

I read online that Fibromylagia causes these sorts of symptoms, could this be the cause of her troubles, or does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing this.

Thanks for spending your time reading this, I hope someone can help

Hi, Sarah, and welcome!  Yes, she possibly could have fibromyalgia.  No, the pain is not in her head.  Many of us have heard that one before! We do have everything you listed that is happening to your Mom.

You and she should check out Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibromyalgia, including a list of symptoms.  She might see herself there!  You both will learn a lot.

It's very frustrating when you are searching for answers and there are none.  That's why she is acting out but, once she does get a diagnosis, things will fall back into place.

Doctors usually test for other illnesses to rule them out before a diagnosis of fibro is given.  She needs a doctor that does believe that fibromyalgia is an illness.  There are still doctors out there that don't!  I use a board certified Internist as my doctor and many on the forum use a rheumatologist.  No matter what, make sure they treat patients with fibromyalgia.

I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  I hope your Mom joins in, too!  Please let us know what you find out because we really do care about your Mom and you.  I hope to hear more from you soon!

Hi Sarah Terese,

I am sorry that your mom isn't feeling well. It does sound a lot like fibromyalgia. Like Sherrine said, have her read fibro101 and she will learn that she isn't alone.

Best wishes to you both,

Hugs, Karen
