I posted a few weeks ago about having to schedule a colonoscopy, but not having anyone to take me to the procedure and carry me back home afterwards.  They do not allow patients to drive either before or after, due to the anesthesia.  They suggested i take a taxi to the hospital and then stay the entire day until they were sure the meds had worn off, and then take a taxi home.

I was not wild about that solution.  So I called some home health care agencies, and low and behold, they could help me out.  I even called my insurance and go the transportation covered.

So, I will be picked up, taken to the hospital, brought home after, and given Ginger Ale and tucked into bed.  Rocking!  I only I could get them to go through the prep for me....

Even when life looks bleak, there is always a solution.

Now, what to do about newborn baby with powerful lungs and a grudge in townhouse next door...

N.B.:  I am not a baby-hater, I am just not used to them at all.  The above comment was meant as humor and not some deep-seated antipathy towards children.  Perhaps it is a pathological allergy to noise....

I'm so glad you were able to come up with a solution! With any luck, you'll still be tired enough that you can sleep more at home without hearing the baby next door. I love babies, but I find that when my pain is flaring, or I'm just feeling worse than usual, I tend to be hypersensitive to noise of any kind...and I'm always hypersensitive to repetitious noise (like a clock ticking or water dripping, etc.). It makes me crazy (or as hubby likes to say, crazy-er). :-)

Good luck with your colonoscopy...hope it provides the answers you're looking for.

I also want to wish you good luck with your colonoscopy. I found the worse part was the preperation. The rest went rather smoothly for me. I didn't fall asleep, so I watched the screen while they were preforming it.

Thanks all! Due to the colitis, I get a 'clean-out' every few years. This is the first time when my partner is not able to accompany me.

The new 'wrinkle' is that the stupid prep is now 40 bucks. It used to be free with the insurance. I don't get it.... why the increase?
