oxycontin vs morphine

Ive been on oxycontin for 14 yrs now my new insurance co. is trying on morphine never had it.  Please give me some heads up on the difference

Hi Niece,

Oxycontin and morphine are both very strong narcotics. I am sorry that your insurance company wants you to switch. Morphine is much cheaper than oxycontin. When my first husband was diagnosed with lung cancer, he switched from oxy to morphine. It made him sleep a lot. But I have a friend that likes the morphine better than the oxy. So I guess it is in the individual as to how it effects you. I hope that you get good pain relief from the morphine.
